Our Macs are the perfect getaway as everyone who has watched any zombie movie know they don't swim. I recommend picking up a mooring or anchoring. Do NOT go for the pretty docks at South Beach Marina. If all goes to hull, remember, shoot for the head.
Need to get the proper tow vehicle, so I can get to the coast with the X.
I'm looking at this: http://www.sportsmobile.com/4_4x4sports.html
Of course I will add a gun mount on the top.
Regardless of which Apocolypse...(Zombie, Peak Oil, Financial Collapse, Alien invasion, Supervolcano, etc..)
I would take a sailing vessel over a bunker for any long term survival.
1-Mobile
2-Self contained/Self Sufficient
3-The very medium you sail on more than likely contains a viable food source.
As for water, just rig a desalinator of some type (reverse osmosis, distiller) and all the world oceans are yours to roam.
I could just see being in a bunker when some desperate group that wants in seals the doors and vents then only to wait for my love ones and I suffocate to death!
LAIKA already proved itself as an emergency shelter when we lost power for a week!
Sailors are survivalist's by nature.

Perfect.
I like the gallery photos. The mobile clinic is interesting. I (seriously) have wondered about outfitting a large boat - probably a catamaran - as a dental office for the admiral. She is concerned with some of the small details though (like what happens if she is doing a root canal on a patient when one of you guys with the 90hp's roars by)
One of our major justifications for buying the Mac was the fact that in an emergency, we can launch it from the beach by our house and get out of dodge without being trapped on freeways. Probably we would make for one of the channel islands if we were just weathering civil unrest or Zombies. Longer term we'd head north to Portland or Seattle where there's enough fresh water to survive, unlike So CAl where we live now. We'll be using Hormel Chili for a keel, and I've got a 12V/manual water maker along with enough solar to power it on the buy list.

Great cast! I need to add it to my must watch list -for info purposes of course.
Along the same line, but lighter, my favorite zombie movie is Shaun of the Dead. Shaun is so busy dealing with the breakup with his girlfriend that he does not realize the dead are walking the streets. Only the brits can make a horror so funny.

That's so funny, I posted something almost identical to that on Facebook this morning!! Way to go Rob. My only issue is where to mount the .50 cal on the foredeck.
We know that even a tank is no defense from Zombies. I like the can't swim theory. Just gotta keep 'em from climbing up your anchor line.
I'll get to working on a anti-zombie climbing anchor line tonight. I'll supply a free one to everyone on this site when the apocolypse hits. As long as you're not already infected.

Now, just hook up the power inverter to them and charge 'em with high voltage....It all depends on the zombie type. If they are "Zombieland" zombies those would probably fool them but if they are "I am Legend" zombies....crap, they are cunning buggers, and fast too!!
Love this thread, keep 'em coming guys. I'm still looking at all the places to mount the zombie protection guns on my Mac....don't want to get it too top heavy so I'm thinking "cannon doors".
