Keel/Crank system on a 78 Mac-25

Post by bobincorliss »

I just finished placing our new (to us) Mac-25 on the hard..Here is my problem.

The crank handle is, as some of you know, located just inside the cabin step. I can't for the life of me find a release for the crank system..was able to lift the Keel, but have no idea how it is released to drop it down to get the weight off the Jack stands..Where the crank handle attaches to the crank (through a small 2" hole the handle has a small spring.. I can if needed take some pic's if you may need them..

Thanks in advance for your help folks

There is no release, just crank it the opposite way (counterclockwise) to make it go down if its the original brake type winch. The weight of the keel will make it drop (unless its binding or stuck somehow) Hopefully the PO didn't use a boat trailer type winch in there.
