The admiral and I have lived our share of troubles in our previous lives, but we also feel that God has blessed us in many ways, especially since we got married (almost 7 years ago now), and definitely not from our own effort and wisdom and good choices (HA!)... Getting to buy and own a sailboat is a big part of that, we believe it is a gift we get to enjoy, so we felt that "Grace Full One" was a great name...we haven't put it on her yet, but will soon enough.
It also leaves room for Grace Full Two, Three, etc.

Congrats on a great name. I, too, feel blessed to have a nice sailboat. I have had many moments of extraordinary peace and joy sailing. It seems fitting to try to capture those experiences in the boat name. Hope to see you out and about in Central Florida.

Thanks! We plan to put the boat in a mast-up trailer storage on Tampa Bay in just a couple months!! We don't get over to the Orlando area much, as I travel the west coast of FL in sales, so we always end up around TB or the west coast somewhere. But that doesn't mean we wouldn't head over for a nice day crewing on East Toho or something if invited!

Look forward to helping coordinate the Tampa Bay Area MacGregor Sailors Get Together one of these days! (I can see in my head the pic of all the boats sailing under the Skyway...) There are a lot of older Mac/Venture boats over here also, and it could be a great big fun time!

Someone commented to me before I bought my boat that they had seen a MacGregor doing 15 knots across the water with the mast up and thought it was their imagination. So I named my boat Imagination .

We named our boat 7 years before buying it. We named our 2011 26M after our dearly departed dog of 15 years, we miss her...we Miss Dallie.

Our boat is named Ilya, after a manatee we adopted through the Save the Manatee Club http://www.savethemanatee.org/default.html.

Our daughter is quite a fan of manatees, and it seemed like a nice and unique name for a manatee that has been sighted in northern climates where we've lived. He is actually quite famous: http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaki ... ate_1.html

Our boat lettering came from Boatnames.net, and I found the quality to be good and the letters were easy to apply. Of course for a 4-letter name, almost anything would be easy to apply!

In our younger years, I named my ancient speedboat after my wife...thinking, "what an honor for both my wife and the boat..."
After years of being towed or broke down on the ramp itself in every major lake in MO, it became really awkward when I'm cursing out my wife's name.... I decided then to never name a boat after a loved one again... So my is Galactica... then again, being a Blue Macgregor, the only cursing about Galactica tends to be white macs watching me speed away....

Jane and I were both widowed 8 and 4 years ago. I used to work in mergers and acquisitions. The Macgregor was our first joint purchase, so we named our boat "Joint Venture".

Fantastic thread....I love to see how people named their boats!

Before we purchased our first boat ( ), we wanted to name it Serenity, mostly after the ship in the series 'Firefly'. Actually, it started off with the hubby saying 'If you find a nice boat that suits us named Serenity somewhere, we'll get it and it will be meant to be'. So basically, he thought we were not getting a boat, as he insisted we had too much on our plate at the time. Well, he should have known be better, because I found one within' the hour....yup, lots of sailboats out there named Serenity! It was actually a little Cat that we were very interested in. But while looking at this boat, I saw another one....a Mac X, and thought, whoooaaa, this thing looks awesome. After reading about it we were sold. So I guess in a way it was meant to be

I decided that there were too many boats named Serenity, and I knew if I named it after my online name/business, it may be one of the only one with it. So we've called it StarSpun, which is my take on the word Starcrossed:-) Can't wait to meet her for the first time on my birthday, April 20th, when we return back to Toronto! It's the only thing that's going to drag me out of beautiful sunny Florida and back to our other home....and I find it kinda funny that out of all the MACs I was looking at online (thinking we'd buy one down in the US) the one we ended up with, that's perfect for us, is only down the street from our condo!

The admiral named my first boat, and I've used it on every boat since. She didn't want Tom & Jeri - I guess after 25 years she no longer thinks it's cute.

We renamed our 26S after a spring refit and obviously after asking Neptune and all deep-sea demons for permission to "Rockhopper". We chose the name as the kids love a certain penguin pirate with the same name from a social website for children. Or was it because of my first sailing trials in the first season when I regularly ended up beaching her inadvertently ??? Should I ever decide to buy another yacht, she will be called "The Office" or "The Hospital", though
