I used both screws and rivets for various parts of my single line reefing system. While I didn't find it tough to use the taps, I found the rivets a bit easier. Both seem secure and doing what needs to be done.

Arknoah,

Did you use aluminum rivets in the boom?

Thanks,
Jim

whenever possible I use stainless bolts and nylon lock nuts. Most anything on a Mac can be secured with 10-24 or 1/4-20. Otherwise pop rivets. anything other than aluminum will rust. Fair Winds and Full Sails....Old salt

My friend you are getting grouchy...too much starch in your kilt this week?

I was going to use the SS rivets for the gooseneck and the mast hound...need the holding strength to counter the stress on those two components. But was thinking aluminum for the eye-straps in the boom for my lazy jacks as they don't really need the strength.

Cheers,
Jim

Doesn't the hound receive a lot of force exerted on it?? The goose-neck does but certainly to a lesser degree.. Lazy jack pieces should be fine..
