So if I got a big chunk of magnesium and used is on salt water motors all the aluminum would be extra protected??

Unless my physics is seriously in error I think that would be the case. However, a magnesium electrode would probably last one tenth the lifetime of a zinc equivalent, at ten times the cost! If you ever had real magnesium 'Mags' on your car you'd remember how long they had that factory fresh look.
