Fresh Water pump system recomendations

Post by MCO98 »

I am about to add water storage to my 98 Mac and I would like to get some opinions on water pumps and faucets. I have a plastimo 26 gallon flexible tank I plan to put in the unused space under the cooler insert under the aft seat, and I am looking at what expieriences people have had with different maufacturers pumps in terms of reliability and noise. Also I am not sure how much pressure and volume is enough. Will I need a minumum pressure to use a filter in line? And as far as volume, I would like to be able to supply the faucets in the galley, and the sink in the head. Possibly a shower in the future.Should I add a accumulator? I would also like to add a washdown pump, but I think that will have to be a seperate pump that can draw raw water from a pickup line. As you can probably tell, I have not done this before , and any input from the many of you that have done this will be appeciated.

Hi, in the following some information about my pressure water installation.
It is based on a 100 l - Plastimo flexible tank, a Shurflow Marine Fresh water pump and a small accumulator located under the front bunk.

Only the upper left corner of the blue Plastimotank is shown of this picture.
As I was affraid of cutting a hole into the outer surface of my :macx: so the water inlet was placed on top of the galley.

If You do this don´t place the inlet as close to the wall as I did. I have some problems when filling from a water jerrycan instead via a waterhose.
Also the pump is activated automatically by the pressure I integrtated an on/off toggleswitch placed at the side of the galley.
The fresh water supply hoses are leading to the replaced faucets (fro a Campersupply shop) and to the shower.

It was a little bit tricky to get the showerhose initially through the foam to the right place. But now it can easyly be pulled out and stored back again.
I don´t have a filter integrated, the fresh water is exchanged regularely and the tank is emtied completely for the wintertime. This way it´s working for five years now without any problem. Hope this will help You find Your solution.
