"Glory of the Yankee Navy" (1909) John Philip Sousa
"Who's Who in Navy Blue" (1920) John Philip Sousa
"The Naval Hymn" 1860 by William Whiting and set to music by John Bacchus Dykes (to the tune of "Melita")
"Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" (1976)Gordon Lightfoot
"Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" (1972) Elliot Lurie
"(Sittin’ on the) Dock of the Bay" (1967) Otis Redding
"Sail Away" (2000) Peter Frampton
"Come Sail Away" (1977) Styx

Just a few of my favorites. Of course I play reed instruments (pretty much all of them) so my list may not be of much use to a guitarist.

chuckle, definitely! Tom makes all raft ups and night caps very fun! He has a large number of humorous sailing songs and a number of the sailors will adlib their own lyrics based upon our boats, the captains and admirals along with some of our more notable misadventures. :) Most of them are former Mac owners so our :macm: was immediately accepted into the fold.... that and I tend to give them a lot of lyical fodder to sing about... :?

K9,
I particularily like your list :!:
I have one to add; a bit of a stretch to call it a sailing song, but a great song none the less. For you blue owners, I'm sure you have numerous "bluebird" references that kinda make sense. :)

"whitebird" by "It's a beautiful day"
