New Boat .....keeping the Mac...

Post by Sumner »

Hope it is ok to post this here. A few of you have asked for pictures of the boat Ruth and I bought. I have some up, actually more than you probably want to look at.

Why we bought it is here....

http://purplesagetradingpost.com/sumner ... index.html

And lots of pictures and info on the boat starts here....

http://purplesagetradingpost.com/sumner ... index.html

The plan is to use this boat a couple times a year for extended trips while we still have good health. In a few years we might then sell it and thus want to keep the Mac for use then and possibly during the time we have the Endeavour. We love the Mac and have spent time just sitting in it out in the driveway since we have been home. I'm also going to do some more mods to it.

I'll still be hanging around here since we are still Mac owners in reality and at heart,

Sum and Ruth

P.S. Here are 3 pictures in case you don't want to look at any of the others...

Looks like a sweet new boat. The best of luck to you and Ruth. I'm sure you will both do amazing things to her and make it your own!

Way to go... One day we are buying a big boat and the Admiral has let me know many times that we are never parting with our 26M. She really loves it! It has been our first boat and a real joy to tow and sail anywhere we go.

Hi Sum and Ruth,

Beautiful boat, however I fear that your Mac is feeling a bit jealous. Be sure and stroke her and say nice things to her from time to time.

Sum and Ruth Congratulation!!! She looks like a real beauty and definitely seaworthy.
Just remember it not the Mac your sailing, loading on the sheets will be very high when the wind gets up, use the wenches and keep your fingers and anything else from being tangled in them. Accidental jib, just get out of the way because there is nothing you can do to stop it and you definitely should not try.

Be Safe and Fair Winds,

Wow what a great mod. The way you finished out the cockpit and cabin seem to have added SO MUCH MORE ROOM; the admiral has instructed me to make those exact same mods. :) Congrats on your new ride. We certainly look forward to hearing of your new adventures.

I bought my Macgregor 25 in September of 2010. I have enjoyed reading about your modifications and your adventures.
I had to say thanks for your posts and wish you the best in your continuing adventures.

Congratulations Sumner & Ruth,
You have a really lovely boat there and I wish you many wonderful adventures ahead. I can really understand you deciding to keep both boats - I have friends out here who have done exactly the same thing in retirement. Thanks so much for sharing with us all.

Very nice boat. The big problem that I see is that it's too far from your shop. How are you going to fabricate mods for the new boat? I see you brought back some work for Ruth. Can't wait to see what she does. We really enjoy reading your blog also.

Enjoy the big boat and I'm sure you will also enjoy the Mac.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Ruth and I hope to have fun and some good days sailing on the new boat, but the Mac isn't going anywhere, except to the side of the yard for a while.

We had the Mac at All American and might of put the new boat there also, but being able to live on the boat next door at Charlotte Harbor Boat Storage while working on her and having showers, bathroom, modest club house, etc. was too much to pass up.

I do remember seeing your boat at All American, nice boat. Hopefully we can meet up with you guys and some of the others on here from Florida on subsequent trips to the area. Also if anyone on here is going through the 4-Corners area of Utah be sure and look us up.

Yep the mods are going to be more difficult. I brought back a bunch of measurements, hope they are right :? We will try and keep track of things and post them. Different boat, but some of the things will cross over to other boats,
