Well the screen is part of the boards, the removable part is 'shade' material made by sunbrella.

I originally was going to also have plexi/lexan inserts as well.. but figured this was good enough for fair days and nites.

it is 'just right'

That's what I meant. Shameful lapse of language. Just cannot take the non-English speaking foreigner out of me :D :D :D

:) no problem.

It is so nice dealing with 2 small boards instead of the big one piece.

Another item for the wishlist :) But it certainly would make the work for the first mate (nearly 9 years old) so much easier. Do you use a special pouch or bag to stow the boards ?

I have a three-board hatch. I wrap them in a towel and stow on the rear bunk when I am not using them.

They match my new dinnette table with opening lid.

No but a pouch could easily be made.

I agree the small boards are much easier to store then the single fiberglass unit. I have to many things "ON" my list to add this one... but I'll keep it in the back of my mind.

I've got the wood. My club has a pile of mahogany boards salvaged from a sunken boat. Good history! Going to add some nice character!

Getting down to the designing now.

Trying to figure out how to get all configurations to sandwich together:
- bug-screen-only - to let air flow
- smoked glass insert - for water proof but lets in light
- solid panel insert - for dark and for secure lock-up

I plan to have them all stack. But I've only got about 3/4" of an inch of thickness to do it in.

I'll draw up some sketches.

I am considering making a similar modular item with interchangable panels - one with a screen, another with plexiglass or even a louvered screen.
