Hi, all
I need to register my Mac 26X in Croatia, where I have already imported it. It looks like I need to either have it examined/tested/measured by a government agency, OR
produce an EC certificate of conformity before I can register it in the national boat registry.
Since the second option seems easier and quicker, I would be willing to pay some bucks to get a copy of the certificate from a MAc owner who has already dealt with this issue.
Anyone out there with this document?

Yikes - have you gotten legal help on this? Fines for CE mark vioations are huge...speaking from experience with a vendor I use...

If your boat was not originaly equipped for shipment into an EU country, then it not only does not have a CE certificate of conformity, but it does not conform to the regulations and will not easily pass inspection. Sharp Marine does a significant amount of modifications to the boats to make them conform to the standards. If it was imported into an EU country by Sharp Marine, then you can most likely contact them for the paperwork you need.

I don't think the laser copier solution would fly, although it is tempting.
I have the option of having a local agency do the homologation and issue the certificate of conformity.
It will not be the same as having a CE certification, but it is enough to pass the muster and it seems to be the cheapest solution.
Another problem is that the registration with the Croatian Ship Registry for non-EU made boats is almost 2000 dollars. That is the part that will hurt,
and I don"t see a way around it.
It smacks of protectionism, and I contacted the US EMbassy in Zagreb about this. They did not find it necessary to respond in any way.

It is very similar to the problem of importing a car to the US. It must meet emission and safety standards, or no-can-do. When I travel to other countries, I marvel at the number of cars that they have that we cannot get in the US. Many with US brands on them. Sorry about your problem, though.

You not only need a certificate, which quotes your Hull identification number, but also, a metal plate riveted to the hull see attached photo.

If you need to get it tested if it is a US spec. boat it will need to be rewired as the US wireing does not meet EU standard.
You will also need a VAT paid invoice which I assume you do have, otherwise you may have to pay VAT again, even if you paid it when you bought the boat. If you do not have the original invoice stating VAT was paid by the original purchaser (or when it was imported into the EU).
Do you HAVE to register it? in the UK we only have to register if we are going abroad, or want to.
I wanted to import from the US but there was too much red tape, the EU seem to put in the way, the 30% + I would have saved would be taken up in EU & UK taxes.
