Does anyone have experience with "Float-On" Trailers for 26D (or any sailboat)? Looking for aluminum tandem trailer. Have read some other topics incl "Central FL" one and have contacted or checked out some suppliers (American Trailer Mfgr - Pompano, FL is apparently out of business - saw some bad comments about them from other buyers). Still looking.
We definitely want tandem torsion suspension for long distance travel (eg. FL to Canada). Any suggestions or comments?

Re: "Float-On" AL Tandem Trailer for 26D - FL?
Torsion is nice, but wonder if it is worth it. I've had a number of trailers over the years, the latest being our Mac trailer and they all have leaf springs and they have all worked great. I thought about putting torsion on my teardrop, but dropped the idea and haven't ever regretted it and I've towed it over 60,000 miles behind my street rod all over the country. I've never had any damage to anything as a result of the leaf springs and I've towed some bad roads, some not paved. We towed the mac over 4000 miles with the single axle ....sailor38 wrote:.....We definitely want tandem torsion suspension for long distance travel (eg. FL to Canada). Any suggestions or comments?

...and now over 2200 miles to Florida in the fall after I added a second axle with leaf springs and it tows great.
One thing about leaf springs is that they are cheap and easy to replace. Ours were quite corroded on the Mac trailer when we got it and I replaced them. Not sure how the torsions hold up to corrosion? It is easy to see the condition of the leaf springs.
I'm not saying don't get the torsions, just giving you another opinion
