Saturday afternoon/evening sail

Went out Saturday for a sail got to the lake about Noon, was hot probably around 100 and no wind. anchored off and swam for a while in hope that the wind would come up. After a couple of hours put the sails back up and headed around the point that is in the middle of the lake. I saw a group of sailboats coming around so I turned around and followed them up to the top of the lake and back. When I was coming back around the point again I ran into this boat.

Any way I took some pictures of his boat with my iPhone.(did not have a real camera on me) thought I would share them here. We sailed around a little bit and admired each others boats. Once the sun went down the wind became very steady so I sailed around the point to the top of the lake again and back. ended up being a great evening sail. Got back to the ramp about 10:00P.





Oh ya that roller fulling he made works really well.

Chris - thanks for taking the pictures. These are the first I've seen of my boat with sails up. It was nice to meet someone who can really handle a sailboat. I hope to be as good as you one day! Your MacGregor 26 is a beautiful boat. Here are a few pictures of your boat I took with my Iphone:

So this is the new home grown roller furling?
The luff seems to have a lot of slack in it. Is that part of the furler?

Chris and I were circling each other trying to have a conversation and take a few pictures. I had just pulled it out to show him how it works. I usually leave one wrap around the fore-stay and pull it tight so those gaps go away. It's not perfect but it gets the job done and makes the front sail easy to manipulate compared to the way it was. I've got about $50 into it, so it provided a lot of bang for the buck. Maybe one day I'll upgrade to a real furler but I'll never go back to a hanked-on jib after using this.

I absolutely LOVE that roller fuller idea. Knowing what the commercial units sell for I'd say you have one of the best mods on the list.

Those boats sure look nice out sailing.
