Thanks
Ben

It appears to be a Mac X although quite elongated. Either a knockoff, photoshopped or they spliced in an additional 4 feet or so. As well while close, the interior is missing a few classic Mac earmarks.
Model Venture with huge cabin. Headroom 5'8 ¨. Toilet closed. Sails in good condition. Jib furling. Electricity redone. The vertical stabilizer and rudders are raised to a draft of less than 2 '. The engine is placed in the center (between the rudders). Solid ballast. Weight 4,000 pounds. Road trailer double axle with hydraulic brakes. Equipment: Marine battery, water tank 50 gal. with electric pump, sink, icebox, alcohol stove on gimbals, VHF radio, electric bilge pumps and manual, portable toilet, boat hook, dock lines, anchor chain and cable (150 feet), flotation vests, cockpit cushions , navigation lights, a system for up and down easily mat, plug and wiring 110v, sounder, lock, bathing ladder, steering wheel, compass, etc. ... For $ 1,500: HONDA 9.9 hp 4 stroke starter and alternator. For $ 800: 800-Watt Wind mat and spinning. All for $ 11,000.

Gotta be a knockoff. The interior beams are bigger and boxier. The aft corners of the cockpit are square instead of curved on a Macgregor X.

Looks like a knockoff to me. Very tough to get into the boat manufacturing business nowadays. Many have tried to make a Mac clone/knockoff/copy etc. Whatever happened to Edge, Mast, some of those other names escape me. Problem is; you need to be able to start a production line or the labor costs will be out of reach. For a sailboat, one at a time "manufacturing" is on order of 10 times higher than an operating production line. For the same boat. Not even counting all the re-work on produced models (warranty work). For example; at this time there are many builders, boaters, hobby folk tring to make a 19 to 22' sport boat. They all cost much more than a Macgregor 26M. There are at least 10 guys world wide building a "production" sport boat. I think that 5.7 is so kool (that is actually in production here in So Cal). I want one! Only about twice as much as the Mac. How about the new Melges 20, even more $$. Viper, big $$$.
Point is; there are many knockoffs that have been made of the Mac that we'll never see.
Roger just made one interior liner part for the new M70. Epoxy cloth vacume bagged, much lighter than the fiberglass part was. The 70 will be racing by next years Ensenada race.

Contact Q1
He lives about 1/2hr from Ste-Foy Quebec City PQ
Maybe he can check it out for you & post more pic's , too bad I was just up their two wks ago I'd have checked it out for you as that was where I was staying Ste-Foy
It say's Venture model with solid keel so I'm thinking maybe the 25ftr the pic could be just the way it was taken with a camera in Paneronic View Poss, which would stretch the pic out making the boat look longer & bigger than is really is !
PS looks like a cross between the Mac26X & venture25

The galley looks cool. And look at how thick the dinet cushions are.

I agree, After looking at the photos closely it appears to be a venture with the eye stripe painted on the cabin. Although I believe they were only making the X in 96.

Re: Can you help me id this model.
Didn't they stop production of the Venture in the late 70's ?? It's advertised as a 1996 Macgregor 26 Venture. Confuses me.
I live in Quebec city so I'll definitely go and have a look. I was just wondering if any of you could ID it. From the description it has a swing keel, 2 rudders... Solid Ballast kinda annoys me a bit though as I want to trailer it quite a bit.
Thanks for the replies !

Re: Can you help me id this model.
Very puzzling. the 26X has 1700 lbs of water ballast in the belly tank. This thing looks like an X but says it has 4000 lbs of solid ballast.
The steering wheel would indicate a 26X but the pedestal looks different. the cabin profile looks different than an X also.
Its a puzzler.
