Why did you not run both your cables and the steering linkage on the same side (port side)? That would leave the starboard footpath clear.

Phil M,
That was how it came from the dealer. Agree that it would be better to run all on one side. We normally board from the dinghy with a side step off the port lifeline stanchion. It makes sense though and I may take up your sugestion over the winter as a improvement item. Thanks.
