I just have to tell this story

Post by NiceAft »

Yesterday the weather was nice enough to remove the tarps from Nice Aft, and start the Spring cleaning. After I had removed both tarps, and had them folded on the driveway, I just stood there figuring out what I should do next. I then heard several beeps of a truck horn, and turned to see what was going on. I saw a dodge pick up truck, but I had to put my glasses on to see clearly. A fellow in the truck was just sitting there at the intersection, with his hand out the window whiles giving a thumbs up sign and yelled out his window, "every time I see your boat, my head takes me somewhere else."Image

I told him, me too :!:

Five years spending the Winter in my driveway, and it still gets commentsImage

Thanks Roger,

Went out to the boat today to reinstall my galley. 60sF (same as you) sunny and warm. It was actually warm to work on it. Tonight they are forecasting 2-6" of snow. Only in Canada? Nope.

Beautiful day here yesterday also. :) Worked on the boat and installed my Quick Release Rudder Cleats, finished my velcro along the hatch opening and messed with LED interior lights but that is another story/mystery/issue that has since been solved. Wanted to get to the boat to test my water line connections after completing my pump and new galley/head line install....but has been raining like hull since last night :!: :( No snow but more than enough rain. Tomorrow is forecast the same :( :(

My wife and I have had frequent similar experiences and reactions. We've taken to calling it "the look". It can occur when we're towing it through a small town or, like you, when cleaning the boat in the driveway. I got a different reaction when I had raised the mast in the driveway, and unfurled the genoa, so I could replace the nylon furler bearing with a stainless steel ball bearing. My neighbor, a life long logger, wandered over and drawled "I thought you needed water to sail those things in." :)

Mike, that's a howl! Goes to show that you don't have to be in Vermont to be exposed to "pawky Vermont humor."

Bossa Nova's in a storage facility two miles from my townhouse, for re-fitting season. I've had the mast up a few times. One time, I'd been working on where I might put an inner forestay - just before some of our heavy weather of this winter - and one guy came past my parking space in his truck and yelled, "You expecting it to rain THAT hard?!"

What's a boat cover? 8)
Sorry, couldn't resist. Can't use my boat now, even though the weather is amazing. Not sure what's worse.

I will tell you, since you don't know........

Having the boat, nice sailing weather, and not being able to use it cause its motor is U/S.

We have to put ours away for 6 months, we just accept that as SOP due to our locale.

Put it away and try to forget about it for 6 months.

Then its play time come May.

8)

Get the 115

Its only money

Heh,

I remember when I raised the mast in the driveway, my neighbor stopped his Hummer in the middle of the street and just stared at it. When I came over he just said, "Wow.....(long delay)...wow!"
