Teflon Hatch Slides or Replacement Hatch Slides

Post by JeffT »

Previously I found a website that offered replacement Teflon or delcron (not sure) hatch slides.
I have a M25 1980 vintage sailboat. The original teak slides are still in place but are sorely in need of replacement. The hatch just slides along the fiberglass hull. There is wear and it makes and awful squeaking noise when moved.
After a recent hard drive failure I have lost all of my sailing links and now I can't remember or find the website that offered the slides. Is anyone familiar with Teflon replacement hatch slides?
Any information will be greatly appreciated. :)

Was this what you were remembering?

As for your problem, did you see one of the latest Mods?

Many folks also just slap down a strip of fuzzy Velcro and that seems to do the job nicely.

You might be surprised to find that the screech of the hatch isn't the slides. It took a few years to figure out that the screech we had on our X was because the front lip of the hatch was just too close to the deck surface. I used a sanding drum on my dremmel to remove about a 1/8" of material all across the front lip of the hatch and it has never screeched since. It was easy to do this with the hatch in place when it is slid part way forward. You could accomplish the same thing by raising it as mentioned with velcro along each side.

And now that you mention it, Duane, my 'screech' was the same problem, and I fixed it the same way.
