Mac 26X YouTube video
I don't know if this is old news but I hadn't seen it before......
http://www.youtube.com/watch#!videos=qN ... elScMU3S0Y
Nicely put together, good commentary, and about as accurate and honest an evaluation as you could possibly hope for, really well done. Is he one of our own?
I like his comments about rig tune and my only critisism is that although he's correct about the difficulty of docking in side winds, if he's got sufficient depth to put the centerboard down as he says he has, then he should also have his rudders down and it would help a lot..... I assume he may well have figured this out by now!

Nice Video. At about the 5:00 frames, the owner of this 26X stated that at low speed with High freeboard the Mac is a little tricky to manuever, he only lowers the centerboard. The video shows both rudders are up while he is docking. Somebody should locate this man, inform him to put his rudders down at low speed.

Re: Mac 26X YouTube video
Hi All!
I figured out that one rudder & centerboard down is the way to go when docking. Mr. Mac acts just like a sailboat (surprise) when the foils are down and like a powerboat, when up.
This is actually a very good thing. On the Columbia River, foils up can be very helpful when side docking in big currents. I have a new video almost ready to upload that shows the boat tied to the dock at Beacon Rock State Park with a current induced bow wake!
Before I bought my Mac, I enjoyed lurking and learning. Now, I continue to enjoy the wealth of information that all you contributors share and learn something new almost every time I stop by.
Maybe this coming summer, I will make ‘Meet My Boat 3’, about all the good stuff I have learned over the last four summers.
Hope you all enjoy my vids. More to come!

BTW
In May, I’m sailing with a friend as part of the crew for the Oregon Offshore and ten days later, in the Swiftsure International Yacht Race. He owns a C&C 38, which we will race. Before that, he owned a Mac 26D.
Now, the C&C is in the yard and we are working on replacing thru-hulls before she gets a new bottom coat. A small area of hull glass with a thru-hull near the keel stub is less than 1/2” thick.
As a present (me) and former (skipper) Mac owner, we both chuckle at the uninformed who pontificate about the Mac’s build strength. It is strong where needed and light elsewhere to fulfill its design intent. I hope that owning an offshore sailboat is in my future, but it is hard to imagine a boat that can bring more pleasure to my family than the Mac.
One thing is certain. If I hadn’t bought my Mac, I wouldn’t have learned how to sail, wouldn’t be part of a racing crew, and would have never experienced the joy of life on the water.

Re: Mac 26X YouTube video
I really enjoyed the video, Mark, and you do great "voice"! So good to see something balanced between the Mac haters who have probably never been on one, and Roger's original sales video showing a Mac driving onto a trailer in zero wind and current with Roger claiming "This is as easy as it looks."
Well done!
Well done!

Re: Mac 26X YouTube video
The Mac's are strictly Coastal Boats.
Anyone that Think these boats can handle anything more than small craft warnings are either want to test the boat to limit or just want to have a great day out being a well experanced Sailer in these boats.
What worries me most is a Sailer Taking the Mac. out to Bimini accross the Gulf Stream for 54 Nm and have no Idea what could happen if the Northern front appeard to early.
These boats will capsize in a 30 Knot blow crossing the stream ,acually they will be boarded with large waves that they can't control at the helm .
If a Mac. even gets 10 % what I been thru you have to cross ya fingers and hope you make it.
I again have stated this. Don't do the Bahama crossing unless you are experanced Sailer and the boat is riged for this trip.
I have Sailed most of the Bahamas in my 35 Alberg for 6 mo. comeing back from the Carribean.
I would suject the EC (ultimate Challange ) next year. Boats still comeing in but our member Club Jarhead with Bill and Johnithon being in second Place thus far.

The more you watch, the more you read here, the more you interact and learn from the members here, the MORE you will want a Mac
Most all of us have blazed a trail before you. The path (read that choice), is now before you Grasshopper
It may be long. it may be difficult, (unless you have lots of money
) There may be diversions along the way. But if you stay true to the dream you will end up with gem that will bring you great happiness with fair winds. (A log with a sever case of Mod fever, which appears to last, at least in extreme cases, YEARS)
