Will 2 of them fit in an :macm: under-seat fuel compartment? That is the question.

i guess that you need to measure the lockers to see if there is any difference in size.

The six gallon "DuraTanks" sold with Evinrudes fit. Fit perfectly. With room to spare, perfectly fit.
Can be had online for under $35 each.
Higher priced, but they fit the M perfectly.
The other six gallon tanks can be 6.5 gallons and either the hatch won't close, or they intrude into the cockpit at your feet in an already crowded spot as it is.

Someone has posted a picture in the past to get an idea of what it looks like.

I'm in the four six gallon crowd also, for the exact same reasons above.
My usual mode is one six gallon tank onboard, unless trip plans call for more.
The tank always comes home with me and gets refilled for the next trip.
The ususally empty gas lockers now do other duty for us in the meantime.

Bertrand

My cockpit floor is not dirty just some dead leaves :P

I bought these fuel tanks at a Merc dealer so I would presume that they are avail. at any Merc. dealer ! they are pricey though !!! but are a perfect fit as they do not come into the cockpit floor like alot of the cheaper tanks either their handles or fuel line p/u expands into the cockpit floor that in my opion is just waiting for an accident to happen to trip over at the least opertune time !
No the fuel line connectors I had to buy seperatly

We had high winds this weekend and the last of the leaves in upstate NY have finally come down. Incredible long leaf season - almost 10 weeks of Renoir Picasso and Monet pastel colours - all with no admission charge.... :D :D

I got onto the boat and swept all the leaves out of the cockpit, soaped and washed out the stains, and lifted all the cushions for winter (open all the hatches underneath to allow air circulation too)

If warm weather strikes I take out the Island 17 for a fix, but looks like Catigale is away until next spring.... :( :(

Oh, yes - drained the fuels tanks too....to stay on thread topic......one 12 gallon main starboard, one 6 gallon port reserve.

John,

Thanks for all those pics. Looks good. I see that West Marine has silver (or maybe it is gray) colored Mercury Tanks on its website. I have seen red ones like yours on eBay.

I didn't notice a strap to secure these tanks in place...did you do something instead of a strap?

Thanks again,
Jim

:) With any fuel storage think about StaBil stabilizer or other brand. I use it any thing that will sit for any time. Ie boat, lawn mower generator & the like. I just replaced my 6 mounth old gas (2 5 gal tanks) for my generator, run them threw the car with no problem.
