CO, NM boarder, I heard it's the a mini lake powell, is it any good in a sailboat? Can you beach it or do I need to anchor or get a slip? I have a buddy with a 19 ft with a 10 hp on it, would he have fun or is the wind not great like I've heard at powell? (He shoulda bought a mac!)
We're also going with another couple that doesn't have a boat, if 4 adults and one lab way to much for a mac? I'm thinking yes...
Well any tips/ advise would really help, thanks!!!

I have had four adults and a Cock-a-poo on my M and we were comfortable...A little tight, but very doable.

When my wife and I first bought our 
, one of the first places we took it was to Navajo. We used to take our pontoon boat up there years ago. We were new to sailing and pretty much stayed in the middle of the lake. The winds were steady and we had no problems. When you go up in the canyons, that's when it would get tricky. We wound up motoring most of the time in the narrows. There were a few places to beach, but you had to be careful. There are a lot of rocks. When we were there, people who regularly went up there said it was the fullest they had seen the lake and most of the beaches were under water. It is still a pretty place to go, and in New Mexico there just aren't that many lakes. One place we like is Heron Lake just south of Chama. It's a no-wake lake in the mountains and one of the more popular sailing lakes in New Mexico. We bought our boat in Colorado at the Anchorage, but have never sailed in CO. Once we beef up our trailer, it's on the list. Hope this helps,

Navajo is absolutely gorgeous.
I have sailed it once and it happened to be on a Mac.
We started on the Colorado end and the wind direction that day required tacking the entire length. As it narrow, that means beating for miles...not something you want to do in a Mac.
We just turned on the engine and scooted all the way to the other end.
Our return was a blast. Offwind run all the way. We used the spinnaker the entire time. It was definitely Mr. Toads wild ride as the wind picked-up.
Not positive, but I think it is about 20 miles in length.
Well worth the trip.

The simple answer is NO. it's not too much. It can be done, but they should be really close friends, or family4 adults and one lab way to much for a mac?

Is this overnight or for the day? Either way it would really depend on the dog and how well he behaves. Labs are nice dogs, but big and can be a let's say energetic. We took good friends from Belgium out on Lake Powell for 3 days in............

........September and they weren't boat people and seemed to be happy the last day that there wasn't any wind and we would be motoring back to the ramp vs. a longer sail. I don't think we will take anyone out again overnight unless they are into sailing or at least like to be on a boat.
We haven't done Navajo yet, but were down to Farmington (nearest large town) yesterday. Our friends that we had lunch with have friends that have a smaller house boat there. We have talked to them and they really like the lake. I've only been by it once in a car by the dam.
