Sailing along with Alex
Re: Sailing along with Alex
Hi Highlander, I've just been through some of your past posts and I can see that you have all ready posted many pictures and no real need to add to the collection. I've got my new desktop background from one of the side on shots of 'An Hileanto'ir III'. Just love the look of it. Just one question and sorry for my ignorance, what is the instrument is at the rear of the boat with 'disk on a pole'. Thanks.

Sailing past you in Pegasus, while you run 2 head sails and your main, won't be a problem J.Highlander wrote:PS someday I'll get someone to do a sail past with me and get some double headed headsail shots from abeam & post them !![]()

.. caught up with I think it was a 40 Hunter under full sail & when we sailed past him ......
ahem.........methinks I could resemble that remark......and if it be true.....
johnny........oh johnny......ya gots to go upwind too........ not just across the wind.
I dont think you would have much trouble going across or even possibly downwind a little faster than an H40 with all that dacron you hoist......but I think you need my lard@$$ to hike out with a harness to keep that M boat upright in more than 18 kts of wind............. there has to be some limit as to how much canvas you can carry....lol
But I desperately look forward to sailing with you out here with that toy........I think upwind........ I can still scoot on by......if you leave your engine keys at home......I have had 8 1/2 kts upwind with 20 kts of breeze.... I love to bother those j boats.......
With your side business.......you should be able to write off that boat as a research test vessel.......and I think a trip to the northwest in Sep/OCT or April/MAy should happen very soon.......
Or maybe I should meet you halfway and tow it back here......... For marine engineering purposes only of course.....

Don't worry,
The admiral wants to get up to that area as much as I do, tho I think some of her reasons are non sailing..........(tell me it ain't so.)
If we do make it out.......I am sure it will be cold. windy and raining. But we will bring our gear. With my current lapse in employment, All of our out of area trips are severely curtailed. (however our local sailing has increased significantly). If you have any relates that need a sailboat on the island.......let me know.
Well, back to job hunting.
