Three of us who met on the Beer Cruise two years ago (and again this past June) are getting together for another cruise in the area. Two of us are from various places in Georgia and the other is from Mississippi. We would like to stray more eastward toward Destin. We are also still making arangements, and would welcome any local insights to:
• Municiple ramps (we’re on a tight budget)
• Good places for a boat (beached or anchored) in more secluded sites – something similar to “Sailboat Cove” past Sand Island.
• Good places to tie up to a pier and have a nice dinner and drinks (and maybe even a shower) something like Juanas Pagada’s at Navarre Beach or the Quietwater Beach complex.
Dates are: Friday, October 9th through Monday, October 12th
Tentatively (and we’d like your input if this is even realistic)
10/9 Friday Noonish – Gulf Breeze Municiple Landing - We plan on driving in early (butt crack of dawn for some of us) Friday morning and rigging here with the intent of getting on the water before noon (or there abouts) We work on Island time though.
10/9 Friday Evening – Anchor, beach or dock at Navarre Beach. ~18 miles. The intent being, for those in the area that don’t want to take the day off from work can still meet up with us for the weekend. OR for those who just want to come out and have a few drinks with us without boat can drive.
10/10 Saturday – Somewhere around Choctawhatchee Bay (Destin, Fort Walton). ~25 miles. We’re wanting to expand our horizons (as the Beer Cruise doesn’t go this far east).
10/11 Sunday – Head back, shooting for Quiet Water, but if we can’t get that far, do the beach camping thing on the long leg between Navarre and Quiet Water.
10/12 Monday – Head back to Gulf Breeze, pull out and head home.
Hope to see some of you if you can make it...

Re: Pensacola / Destin, Florida Cruise – aka - The Second Beer
Ok let me see what I can do for you first off I would go here for a ramp. http://www.floridastateparks.org/rockybayou/default.cfm I would call them up to set a group rate or what ever. Also check http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/11385.shtml for any low bridges you might have to contend with you might need to leave you mast down for 1. Also with this you can see the channel from the Gulf if you use the channel going out off to your right is a shallow. Great place to toss down your anchor and relax very shallow so bing up your board but kinda fun to hop out of you boat and walk over to a friends. The locals use it all the time and some times they even set up a blow up slide out there for the kids. Next things to do in Fortwalton, Destin, and Sandestin (we call it the redneck riveria) this is the hide away of the semi rich and durning spring break is the home of the semi clothed. I would try to hit up the destin Yatch club The Harry T's they have some good food and you can just tie up and the docks yet again call them up make sure they have room and so on http://marinas.com/view/marina/2566_Des ... ht_Club_FL is a good pic of the place with a map. There is an abundace of things to do in that little habbor area near the yatch club http://destinyachtclub.com/ is there website and http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Desti ... :f:EN:M:/e is a great look form above. There is a list of things to do or hang out at down there I would sugest just looking some stuff up and you figureing out what you want to do, almost everything you could want to do you can find on or right next to Hwy 98. Shopping for the girls fishing for the guys white sand beaches like no other dolphins all over the place water suprisingly clear stuff like that. The winds stay petty good it does rain down here but usally only for a hour or 2 and the clouds open up to beautiful blue sky. I hope you guys come down it is a tourest kind of area without the feel.
