I think the height of your loop is not as important as the height of the outlet when trying to keep the water out of your bilges. The check valve I posted a pic of was about $6 total including the barb fittings. Why not be sure.

What section did you find the valve? The advantage of the loop is that it will continue to dain the sump after the pump stops. Maybe I'll do both.
Gypsy if you have any question you can email me.
Thanks.

In the plumbing section with the PVC pipe fittings. I guess any hardware store would have them. You'll need to reduce it down to the appropriate barb fittings.

Re: Shower with Sump in 26X Head
No need for a check valve. We were in some pretty rough conditions with no major water intrusion problems.
I finally added the "Billy" suggested loop that rises up behind the sink then down into the drain. Not an option, works perfect. When the pump shuts off the loop causes the water to continue draining via a siphoning action. No more pump cycling.
I found 90deg 1" elbows and a 1" to 3/4" reducers in the section that carries the black coiled pipe. Some of the elbows need to be cut down to make better transitions.

Re: Shower with Sump in 26X Head
Sorry I've been offline with MacGregor Sailors. Just saw your post.
Really out of it. Apparently there is a separate link for older mods now.
Try this
https://macgregorsailors.com/mods/index ... em&id=1214
Transom shower mod connected to same hot water system.
Hot water mod https://macgregorsailors.com/mods/inde ... em&id=2010
Electric demand water system mod
https://macgregorsailors.com/mods/index ... em&id=1104
The first bladder failed so replaced with the Lalizas 100 lt shown below. Plastimo's replacement. Much tougher and more flexible. Vinylized fabric. Don't see it failing for the life of the boat.
Still works great!
Hope this helps.

Re: Shower with Sump in 26X Head
This is a low priority future mod for me. When I used to live aboard I preferred to shower on the boat. Even in a slip. Now I don't live aboard or need it, but like the idea. I also like the "idea" of using the ballast tank for a fresh water tank when slipped. I would sanitize the system and rinse well then not hesitate to use it for showers and dishes. If I want to go sailing, open the gate and top off the ballast. The only inconvenience I see is you should sanitize each time you plan on using it that way. Not a huge deal but inconvenient. I foresee dumping the ballast like normal. Refilling with fresh water from the vent (probably modified for that purpose) along with sanitizer. Thoroughly mix by normal boat operation or deliberately "rocking the boat" on all axis. Run sanitizer/water solution through entire system. After 24 hours go dump the sanitizer mix normally on plane. Refill with fresh water and dump another time or two to get rid of the sanitizer solution remnants as well as dilute any remaining salt water. Now you have a relatively clean water supply for showers, dishes or emergencies until you contaminate it again. I would suggest using "clean" ballast water on any long voyage just in case. Has anyone ever done this? Why not?

Re: Shower with Sump in 26X Head
Another cool idea I saw is a tiny tankless electric water heater used to heat a bathroom sink. If you think about it a low volume endless source of hot water. On shore power its ideal. It would work fine on the generator too but a bit more of a hassle. I have added it to my wish list.
Re: Shower with Sump in 26X Head
I couldn't see doing the shower without a water heater. Don't recall that in the discussion posts. I used a propane tankless style. Did I miss something in the posts on this? If anyone is thinking about this nice mod. I had to look quite a while to find a floor drain that would fit in the small space under the head Installing it was another story too. I can look it up if anyone is interested.
