where to find the little white caps that cover holes...?
Question: Where can I find some of those little white plastic caps that are everywhere below deck on the '99 (and other) Macs? I'm wanting to install some fans and want some caps that match after I drill the holes and run the wires.
Also, it seems like those little white caps are always growing mildew (or mold?) on (in) them. What's the easiest way to get rid of that? Spray on bleach?

Check the hardware bins at Home Depot and Lowes, over near their screws and bolts - they often have them in the proper size. Failing that, they are easily sourced from the factory.

I completely checked Home Depot, none. They have steel hole caps, but no plastic.

Hi Steve,
I pick them up at Ace Hardware. Go to the nuts and bolt section and look in the specialty drawers.

I've found the 1-inch hole covers, or liner plugs if you prefer, at larger hardware stores. Home Depot and Lowe's, in my area, are not reliable in their stock. A big Ace hardware store is apt to be better.
The only source for the big 2" liner plugs would seem to be Blue Water Yachts. They're a sure source for the smaller plugs, too.

Steve,
I've found plastic caps a Home Depot near the plumbing pressure test plugs. The ones I found are yellow, but they fit nice and snug in a 2" hole saw hole. They are a little heavier duty than the standard white ones, and can be painted white to blend.

They carry them in a host of sizes in the hardware drawers at Lowes.

you can buy them from mcmaster.com, but color does not match perfectly. the original mcgregor caps are available from http://www.bwyachts.com/
