Inquisitor,

That sounds great, good luck with your schedule. Non-Macs are certainly welcome, of course there will have to be some sort of penalty fee 8) , but the more the merrier. If you need directions or any local info let me know and I will get you what I can. If you are coming from Atl I want to make this as easy for you as possible. Just keep me posted. C130king brought up a good point, many of the larger public ramps will get quite hectic on Sat and remain that way until Sunday evening so I recommend a Friday arrival and Monday departure if possible. More info to follow...

Here is a link to the local public boat ramps. If anyone wants more detailed information please PM me. There is also a link on this page to the municipal marina. Reservations will not be required as there are no special events taking place that weekend. The marina is located ~1.5 miles from downtown. There is a paved walkway that runs along the river so the walk is quick and easy.

John,

Can you walk across the Main St bridge to get to the Jax Landing? From the St. John's Marina that is...

Yes, but the private marina across from the landing is part of the River City Brewing Company. It is a full service marina adjacent to a great restaurant. The dockmaster is a great guy (Lee Logan) just take my advice and let him talk you into your slip. The current there can get crazy but Lee knows how your boat handles better than you do. Listen to him and you'll have no problems. Full service, gas, shower, pumpout etc...
They usually have plenty of slips but reservations are advised. With great views of the skyline and a short walk to the night life it's a great time.

There is also a water taxi that runs between the Landing, the city marina at metro park and in front of River City Brewing Co. Not a bad way to get around down town Jacksonville.

Ladies and Gents,

Please note the new title of this thread (thanks to whichever moderator changed this for us). I have sent "invites" to all the Mac sailors I could find from FL, GA, and AL. However, any and all are welcome. And if you are from FL, GA or AL and I didn't send you an invite...my apologies...an oversight on my case.

Right now we have three boats. Monday 7 Sept is Labor Day so hopefully that will make it easier for some to come down for the weekend.

Details of our Get-Together are coming soon. Feel free to ask any questions you have and myself, JCasale or Markh1f will get back to you.

Cheers,
Jim

T-minus 20 days until I am back in Jacksonville

Okay Ladies and Gents

C130king has got a point. It's a long weekend, great location and promises to be blast. I have a vision of a MacGregor Armada dominating the river that weekdend 8) . Let's make this the first annual meeting of Jacksonville Rag Haulers. First round is on me, you just gotta get here to collect! Plenty of free ramps, free overnight slips and miles of beaches (also free) await if you're adventurous enough to make the trip :P . Whaddya say?

For those brave souls who are tough enough to make the trip I am posting the directions to the beach where we hope to raft up and beach. For those who are weak and scared you may skip to the next thread.
Bastonjock, the directions are the same for you just begin by heading SW for roughly 4800 nm. Once in Jacksonville follow the directions below. You should leave today

Directions to event by water:

Fort George River & Inlet is at ICW Marker #73 green on the east side of the ICW north of the St Johns River. Turn into the Fort George River Inlet and hug the right or south side of the river pass the Kingsley Plantation dock at a slow speed. Continue east and visually navigate the two sand bars heading in a Northeast direction and we will be rafting up all of our guests on the back side of Little Talbot State Park. Please be careful through the sand bar areas since the inlet changes each year. Following another boater with the local experience is very important. When you come into the inlet and if you are rafting up with our group please prepare your boat by setting two fenders on each side of the vessel at the rub rails and have your lines ready to tie up to the companion boat. We will be monitoring VHF channel # 72.*** Bring a Stern Anchor if you have one!!

I believe it is mast envy...

But as you :macx: sailors like to say...it's not the size of your mast...it's how you use it...
