Hi Terry,

I found that disconnecting the Snap Furl forestay at the mast hound and sliding the furler aft so that the drum is resting just forward of the mast base in the trailering mode, I can bungie the drum very securely to the mast base and the unit will not flop or bend. I also use an insulated snowmobile helmet bag to encase the drum to store my line and protect the drum.

It does add about 10 mins to the rigging but the benefits of a stout furler with a real halyard is well worth it and saves time rigging the jib so the time equals itself out.

It seems no doubt a roller is needed, unless you enjoy going forward and hanking on , or your serious about speed ....But a Hank on is what I have now so I often opt out, to sail with just the main.........
That's fine on the M but a roller makes sailing a lot more fun if............ its kept easy enough... to use to maintain and to trailer.
