Mainsail roller reefing.

Post by PhilEOD »

Hi Guys just bought a :macm: and I'm interested in the mainsail reefing system by Inmon Yachts. Is it supplied to the United Kingdom? If so who is the agent? Does it consist of only a new boom or is a new mainsail required as well? What's the cost involved?
Reading the articles posted there is a wealth of information on these but if I've missed the reefing please let me know. Great site.

PhilEOD,

Why don't you e-mail them, and ask the question directly? captmike@macgregorsailboats.com

What Ray said - - - but hurry - - - Mike might not be at this email address much longer!!! I can tell you there is no dealer carrying this in the UK - - - it either has to come from Mike directly or from Mike through the Mac factory. Mike manufactures them himself.

If you phone him, he'll almost always respond, rather quickly:

USA: (949) 642-6830

We have a prototype Inmon Roller Reefing Mainsail system on our boat, "Sea Eagle". I'd recommend it for a sailor who wants a relatively easy way to raise and lower the mainsail. As far as I know, the system uses a standard 26M mainsail. Only the boom is different. Mike made an additional minor modification to our mast, but I'm not sure that it had anything to do with his furler system.

His latest version may include Sunsail material on the leach edge, which will protect the sail from the weather. The sail also wraps into a very tidy roll when it is furled.

I have a different office number for Mike than Dennis (310-821-7039) USA.

I have been on Dennis' boat and can confirm that the roller furler works wonderfully, and I think the product has been "improved" since Dennis' installation?

HI,

Thanks to Rick and Dennis for the cudos of the roller furller, I'm glad it is working for you Dennis. We are moving to the MacGregor factory, sales and all, custom installations and our new/old phone number is now (949) 642-6830, it is the Mac line so just ask for Mike!
