BIGGER GAS TANK
Has anyone thought of a mod for a bigger gas tank? One guy here said he put a 60 liter stainless steel tank in the aft section.

Re: BIGGER GAS TANK
Really? that would be cool also.Enough beer one would never run out!
Really though, someone has to have thought of an idea for a larger fuel
tank.Even another 24 gallons would be great..

It was also done on Windarra:

(And despite the warnings of some, neither of our boats has blown up yet.)

Thanks .Looks great under there.I really don't like sleeping in the aft section anyway myself. One could glass a petition in front of the tank under there & do away with the tanks in the cockpit area.

Careful storing fuel below. A small air leak can ruin your day. I carry 30 gal's I have almost never had a problem with running out of fuel. If you need more, I sugggest that you use one of the cockpit mod's and get you some 5 gal can's.

Re: BIGGER GAS TANK
After seeing a few accidents with fuel in open air I can't envisage storing it below decks and that would be only if absolutely neccesary and then only have it installed by someone who is aware of how things can go wrong.
For sure it would be better for stability down below but forget about positive flotation if a fire develops and that tank is not protected at all points where fuel or fumes can exit especially under heat pressure.
Just can't see any scenario that would warrant it, would rather tow excess fuel in the dinghy if needed for long trips and hopefully will be doing just that next year.
