TRAILER CONVERSION
Has anyone replaced the wooden support blocks on the standard
trailer with rollers, as in a typical powerboat trailer...and would rollers [ costing more] make the
easier to recover from shallower situations, by being able to winch it on, rather than float it on...Puggsy

I looked at replacing the wooden berths with rollers but after looking at the minimal wear due to the spread of support I decided against it but did put a roller just in front (towards rear of trailer) of the front vee berths.
If you do put one there you will need it fairly long or the nose will hit the end of the roller
What I did do was put another berth similar to the originals between the two back ones, have only loaded it once since the mods and it went on beatifully even with 9 weeks of gunk under it and didn't even have to use the bump although did lubricate the bunks.

Re: TRAILER CONVERSION
Puggsy I sprayed my bunks after re-carpeting them with a liberal amount of waterproofing silicon aka camp spray. Its all but too slick now and works very well. I manage to have driven my boat onto the trailer every time and I have to now be very careful not to put the bow over the crank into the bed of my truck

Someone has posted pics of a roller trailer for a 26X, possibly in the mods section but I don't know how the mods worked out in practice.
I kept copies of the pics, but I forgot to reference the author and I cant find the original post using the search facility - mostly because I don't know how to filter the search properly (the words "roller" and "trailer" come up in far too many posts).
Maybe you could try a new post with entitled "Roller trailer for Mac 26?". That might jog someone's memory

Re: TRAILER CONVERSION
To my recollection there is a need for bunks be the a string of rollers or wooden planks to support the boats weight, and especially during transit.

Re: TRAILER CONVERSION
Thanks for the response, guys...boblee...I do have that bow roller fitted now. Its surface is a fraction above the front bunks...It helped a bit in recovery but i still have THAT gap. Only a few inches but enough to be annoying. I trailered her home 30 kms. and she never budged....She's back in the briny in another week...In the meantime have run power for my VHF radio. Already have a 27 meg. Over here in Western Oz, we have to be QUALIFIED to have a VHF. I've had mine since 1964. The authorities says my certificates should be in a museum...Still have all the originals. I'm a bit off subject here so i will go to mods. Puggsy
