spinnaker photos

Post by DanBurke »

Is there a proper forum to submit photos? I have some fantastic shots of a full day of spinnaker sailing that I thought would be useful for those wondering about sailing singlehanded, use of the dousing sock, and spinnaker sailing angles.

More importantly, how do I post these photos??? :)

Hi Dan
This FAQ gives a bit of information on posting photos.

It seems that most people on here store their photos by uploading them to Photobucket (its free).
Once they are stored, you can include them by either copying the URL from Photobucket then clicking the URL button here and pasting the link address between the two URL tags, or you can include (a limited number) to show directly in your post, by copying the IMG Code from Photobucket, then pasting it in your post.

You can find a bit more more information on how to post photos in this thread (scroll down or use the Search This Topic box to look for posts containing 'photobucket')

 ! Moderator Note:
Photos are welcome in all of the forums, as long as they pertain to the posting. Please try to limit the number posted with the img tags, to 2-3. This will help Heath with the server load. If you have more, please link to them with the url tags.

Thanks, ~Rich---Hamin' X~

Thanks everyone, hopefully this works and the collage format doesn't cause a problem for Heath. Another Mac owner was wondering about the maximum angle we can sail at with the chute up.

Almost there Dan, but you need to paste the address slightly differently to turn it into a link to the photo.
First, the address you have given is to your Photobucket album, not to the photo itself (collage3.jpg)
In Photobucket, if you look below the photo thumbnail in your album you will see four boxes:
Email & IM
Direct Link
HTML Code
IMG Code

To paste a link to the photo, click in the box next to "Direct Link". This will copy the photo's address to your clipboard.

Then, in your post here, you need to either
1. click on the URL button then paste the address BETWEEN the bracketed url tags :
(in the examples below I've left out the opening "[" on the first part of the url tag to show how the rest is written)

url]ADDRESS HERE[/url]

url]http://s383.photobucket.com/albums/oo27 ... llage3.jpg[/url]

http://s383.photobucket.com/albums/oo27 ... llage3.jpg

OR

2. Clcik on the URL button then move the cursor BEFORE the first closing bracket then add an "=" sign and paste the address, then move AFTER the closing bracket and type in a description between the closing and opening bracket of the pair of tags (which is a bit neater):

url=ADDRESS HERE]DESCRIPTION HERE[/url]

url=http://s383.photobucket.com/albums/oo27 ... llage3.jpg]26M Spinnaker Photos[/url]

26M Spinnaker Photos

OR

3. use the IMG tags in the format Dimitri illustrated above (you can get this copied to the clipboard by clicking in the "IMG Code" box in Photobucket)

img]ADDRESS HERE[/img]

img]http://s383.photobucket.com/albums/oo27 ... llage3.jpg[/img]

By the way, they are great photos!! :) :)

We normally build this sail in red, white and blue.

Had a customer this summer order one just like Dan's red and white one. He never paid for it and it has been sitting on the shelf since.

Will let it go for $395.00 if anyone is interested. Please PM me.
