I was out fishing with my Dad and my son. Unfortunatly they left nice and early so I missed them  ... But I did catch dinner! 8)
Your are right we should try to get as many "missing Yachties" into the fold. By the way my applogies to any one who was quitely trailering their boat home and was wondering who the nutter was waving madly at them as they went past (I have done that one a few times :P )

Back on topic....
Should be be thinking of some Ausie association made up of local groups eg Qld or SEQ or Lake Maqurie, Melb, Perth etc? (yes I know I just offended someone by not including their region.. come to brisbane and I will buy you a beer to make up for it)

Kadet.... Sand Hills sounds good and I'm a 50 50 starter. Any other takers?

Qld/SEQ crew... If we are to have a bit of get together to take this further where would you like to meet? Gold Coast, Brissy, Sunshine coast?

David...........I think the meeting is a good idea. The venue could be any of the above, maybe lunch somewhere family/child friendly. Let's get some other suggestions and see what happens.

Will you be sailing one way and powering the other?

Not if it's a Northerly, will motor out into bay and have a sail, like it should be Saturday the 20th with any luck..

If it's an Easterly yes will motor over then sail back. A loverly 15 knot afternoon ENE seabreeze would be perfect :)

Depends on how much of a hurry I am in :)

WOT 16.5 knots about 20 litres one way. Calm day bay like a mirror

4500 rpm about 12.5 knots about 15 litres one way. Normally the way I travel with a bit of wave action to keep dry.

2800 rpm about 6 knots about 13 litres one way. (only done this once in 2 metre waves with a 30+ knot southerly blowing) got 12 knots surfing down one of the waves after being hit by a set of three big waves, acording to GPS, pitty it was 90 degrees to the course I wanted to steer. I was 3/4 the way home before I dropped the rudders to help steer, pitty I did not do it earlier but as I was motoring thought I might sprint between crests, sprint in a Mac I know, live and learn :? Just a note for those who have not experienced this. Dropping the rudders kept the :macm: on course with only slight wheel adjustments 5-10cm movement. Without rudders was turning the wheel 1-1.5 turns to keep on course. Waves were coming beam on. It also felt like it reduce the roll by half.

I carry 69 litres of fuel as you never know what you might end up having to do. 2 x 22 litre (6 gallon) tanks and the Evinrude factory 25 litre tank that came with the ETEC as a reserve.

Hi all
Getting back on topic Wot say we try to find somewhere central to catch up. I was thinking maybe Wynum Manley would be central to those on the north, south and west sides.
Thoughts??????? 8)

Do you avoid Moreton Island when the wind is from the west? I have done a couple of trips to the wrecks. Do you consider the Sandhills a better option? It would be good to catch up with you at some stage, but difficult to organise. I run out of crew members quite often due to conflicting interests. Where are you spending Easter?

Depends on wind strength but generally yes westerlies at Moreton are not nice. No better at sand hills, probably worse as no wrecks to hide behind. If Wind is from the west I normally sail up the front of Redcliffe from Clontarf to Scarborough. Have not done it yet but have considered tying up at Redcliffe Jetty and having a counter lunch at the RSL with weather like that :).

I've tied up at the Redcliffe Jetty for a short while. The sign says "no unauthorised boats" what ever that means so we didn't stay long. Walked along the jetty for a coffee, had lunch on the boat and headed off. My son and I are planning to do a spot of fishing Tuesday and Wednesday at Poverty Point in Pumicestone Passage. We will have to drop the mast to get under the bridge. Have you done that trip, if so we're did you drop the mast?

You tied up on the Whale watch side :P .. There is an internal pontoon from memory with a 2 hour limit. Good luck fishing I was going out today but chickened out with all the rain. Been wanting to test my new spin.. Never done Pumiscetone in a Mac. But there are boat ramps both west and east of the Bridge so unless you intend to fish the whole passage just choose the one on the side you want. And remember your wet weather gear.
