Drainage
Drainage
I am the recent owner of a 1975 Venture 222 and I have some leaks that let water into the interior when it rains. When this happens, the water collects on the cabin floor and a few other areas and I was wondering why there's no drainage into the bilge from these areas. Would it be a bad idea to add my own drainage holes so everything can drain to the bilge where I can use a bilge pump?

Re: Drainage
John,
Obivious answer - Fix the leaks.........
Second, it seems Roger rethought the idea of no holes in the bottom of the cabin liner in later model boats. My X has a hole drilled in the lowest part of the cabin sole. The hole allows water INTO the cabin in case of flooding so that it is visible before the boat is gunwales deep. I would think it would be in your best interest to put in at least one hole for that reason. The added benefit of allowing cabin water into the bilge is a bonus.
Journey safe.
