Centerboard depth vs points of sail

Post by twdusa »

I have only had my 2001 26X for about 6 weeks now. I have found how to determine how deep the centerboard is lowered vs the amount of line played out. My biggest questions now is approx. how deep the centerboard should be for different points of sail? Seems to make quite alot of difference!

TWDUSA,

I am sure this has been discussed several times before. You can do a search on "centerboard" and/or "points of sail" and finds lots of data. Use Advanced Search and I find it easier to select the box for "topics" and not the box for "posts"...easier to sort through the results in my opinion.

Try this post -- Sailing Performance

Read some old threads on this topic and you will probably find exactly what you are looking for. I have an :macm: so my set-up is different.

And just as an FYI...you don't need to post the same question in two different forums. The moderators are mostly a bunch of grumpy old farts and they will just delete the extra post... 8) :D :P (* Just Kidding Guys *)

Good Luck,
Jim

Just a general rule. The closer you sail to the wind dırection the deeper the centre board has to be.

Close to the wind: All the way down
Running downwind: No or little centre board down
