Mac 19 Rudder shortening/material?

Why do you need the rudders down? until you get out a bit or actually part company with the trailer?

The original issue was that on the 19 the rudders are pinned/bolted in the down position and this can't be done afloat because you can't reach. In addition my trailer is low due to smaller wheels and a desire to maintain the low overall height to fit in my garage.

Therefore the desired mod is to fit pull-down/pull-up lines in a similar fashion to the 26s. The difficulty to be got around is the rudder configuration/brackets/tubes are different to the 26s so this needs a bit of cleverness to overcome.

Having said that several 19 owners have done succesful mods and Alex's looks the best so far so that's what I am following. :)
