Need to find a replacement batten for a standard Doyle main (Bastonjock's not my ). Need to replace the second one from the bottom. Seem to be various widths/lengths on the WM site.
Anyone know what size I need? Do I need end caps for it as well? The old one is sitting somewhere in the English Channel...me thinks it popped out while the main was flogging in the winds this weekend...seems the guest help (me) did not properly insert it into the pocket.
I am thinking we would have hit 10 knots if we had the full set of battens. Unfortunately our superior sailing skills could not overcome this lack of equipment.
Let me know after you search your storage areas...it is probably somewhere near your lost keys...
Easy solution - - next time you're on deck with the Main down, measure all baton sizes and WRITE IT DOWN and keep in your log (or whereever).
Then go to the cheapest marine outlet you can find (on line or whereever, not WM) and buy the long lengths of the correct width baton for your boat and cut to size (length) as you need them, and you'll always have spares on hand.
It's so simple even I can do it
Rick
PS HINT never look in the bildge - - you can find bad stuff there

to put you in the picture guys,i put my keys in a safe place and forgot where the safe place was I took every thing out at least twice before i found them, the bonus was the pack of bacon that i had forgotten about,so we fryed that up

If you really wish to attain a speed in excess of 10kts, install stern rail seats and eat beans all night! An added benefit is one little match will create emergency flares in case of distress *
* A note of caution As with any gaseous material, there is a chance of explosion in enclosed areas of the boat:!:
Next time we go sailing (hint, hint, ) I will bring a pot of my wife's award winning chili...with extra pinto beans (white pinto beans...they pass gas faster)...we will get Glissando to 10 Kts yet.

This is an opportu nity for you to buy a new contemporary washer dryer combo for Mothers day....The new hand wash and lingerie programme combines gentle care with effective cleaning, to allow you to wash your most vibrant delicate items or lingerie with confidence.
Doyles has a sail loft at Shamrock Quay in Southampton and the guy who runs it was the manager of the Doyle Loft in the W.I.'s, where they build the Sails for Roger. So you should get what you need from a call to Doyles UK.
I found them very helpful with some sail problems I had, when I kept my 26X in the Shamrock Quay Marina.
