i have always thought that using the boom as prieviously said would be the way to go,if you have a ridgid boom vang and rig a heavy block to the end of it,then by using the winch you could lift a heavy object like a dog or a person aboard.

my wife want s me to fit such a facility as she points out,she would not be able to lift an unconcious man aboard

i have 4 dogs,3 small ones and a 50 kilo Xbreed, theres no way that i could lift the big dog aboard

We have a lifejacket for our dog with a grap handle and we have a boathook so should be able to grab her ok. All we need to do now is to teach her hoe to maintain a course and tack.

Hahahaha :D Easy to train her to climb a ladder. :D
It looks to me that Delevi and his buddy are having success coming in the aft even on a M
The other good option is a Rigid Boom Vang set up for just such a purpose. They make a Boat hook option that makes is easy to attach a line to a mooring ball, this could be used to attach the rope to the doggy jacket handle and then winch him aboard. Man if he's not real good about it. . . . . I can see some real damage taking place to the gel coat!
Its one thing to hoist him aboard and damage your boat to save his life! IMHO its another to do this repeatedly just so he can go for a swim.

On the X you can drop in your mast crutch, tie the boom the the crutch, and then use the boom to winch someone/thing on board.

I have a snatch block (an opening type block that can be snapped over a taut line) that clips onto boom, and then the Lifesling line can be winched up to pull the POB back on board
