Insurance on old truck

Post by Robert »

Did you make it clear to your insurance company that the truck was liability only and only for recreational vehicle duty?
..
I have had to separate the insurance policies of my three then two now vehicles within the same insurance company because they intended to increase the insurance rate on all vehicles after just one of them was involved in an accident. The solution was to open a separate car insurance with the same insurance comapany just for the car that was in the accident. This simple thing saved thousands of dollars in insurance over three years, then we went back to one policy for both cars, but for a different reason: The same insurance policy nonsense applies to removing expired points from an insurance record, they told me the excessive insurance rate would not go down until the policy renewal date some six months after the three years expiration of the points. So on the day the points expired I called in and moved the not point free car back to share the policy of the other car and saved hundreds of dollars. But wait the insurance soap opera continues, I also needed to remove a third driver and benefiiary from another policy, they gave me a hard time about that, so I cancelled the policy and let them write a new one. At every change I streamlined the insurance coverage. So each time one of these issues comes up and I need to get after the insurance comapny they loose money because I find ways to lower my rates. I have also learned that the insurance agent assigend to my policy is of no help, I need to ask to speak to another one and things get done my way right away.

I wonder if a separate old truck RV duty with only those drivers that tow listed would be cost effective.

I have the max allowed deductable on the insurances I carry because if I ever have to make a claim the rates will go way way up, therefore the deductable should be high enough to avoid making a claim at all.
