More on the 12 gal gas tanks, where to?
So far the only way to get 24 gal is four of the 6 gal tanks. One option is custom alum tanks for a perfect fit, way too much money! Perhaps some calls to the odd tankl makers, if we make enough noise maybe one of them will see the market for a new Tempo 12.

With a 12 gallon, or built in tanks, you got to buy the expensive marina gas, or fill at the gas station on the trailer, or transport and POUR 12 gallons of gas from cans. Seems to me the four tanks of 6 gallons is the best way to go. You can fill up the ones that need it at the gas station and walk them onto the boat fairly easy.

tanks
I have the 2, 12 gal tanks on my M26, I fill at the begining of the season, on the way to the marina. This lasts most of the season, as it starts to get low, I top off with a 2 gal can as needed.
Had I to do over again, I would go with 4, 6 gal tanks, just seems it would be easier.

Marina gas
When I was a kid my dad would take us to the lake camping in the summer. He always bought the marina gas. My uncle would rib him and ask why he didn't buy gas up town. Dad always replied that he like the marina where it was. And the only way it would stay there and be there when we wanted to use it, was if the owners made money.
I have pretty much stopped hauling fuel. The couple bucks extra per tank, as little as I use, seems like a reasonable 'user' fee.
I read about all the marinas going out of business and being sold to condo developers and I wonder how many would not have been sold if the owners had made just a few more bucks.

Yes and for what little gas we use it shouldn't be a big deal. Our gas depot is a PITA so I have hauled once.Retcoastie wrote:When I was a kid my dad would take us to the lake camping in the summer. As for selling out to Condos..... Not enough gas in UAI
A fellow we know who struggled with a small hotel on the beach south of Playa Del Carmen didn't hesitate 2 minutes when the offered him $5,000,000.00 for his beach front

Hello,
I have (2) 12 gal tanks. I don't have a slip. I fill up at the closest gas station to the ramp. When we go to the San Juan Islands I fill up in Anacortes, after that I use marina gas. It is not worth it to haul (4) 6 gallon tanks up out of a marina and back to save a couple of bucks or even 10. I consider it part of the vacation expense. 2 weeks up there only cost $500~$600 with fuel, food and includes towing the boat. I am really glad I refurbished the draw units on my LPT-12 tanks before they went under. The matter of which is easier depends on how you use your boat.

Re: tanks
Just be careful filling the tempo tanks from other portable even plastic cans. If you go through my recent posts, you will see a real recent one where I told the ugly story of trying to save a few dollars by transporting gas rather than fill up at the marina (for the few gallons I use) and I wound up bending the gooseneck on the tempo tanks so they leaked when the boat heeled and I had to replace them both.Bill Earnhardt wrote:I have the 2, 12 gal tanks on my M26, I fill at the begining of the season, on the way to the marina.
