how many miles is it from chicago to florida?

roughly 1000 depending upon destination, about 20 - 24 hours straight driving to Orlando (1200 miles) with potty and meal breaks.

In early April of this year we chartered a boat at Plantation Key and sailed to Hawk's Cay Marina in Duck Key. We mostly sailed Florida Bay. It was a very nice trip. I recommend this book:

Cruising Guide to the Florida Keys.
