We ended up getting a Mercury 4 stroke 90 HP. The top speed was 23 MPH (at 6000 feet above sea level) and it took a while to get there. It worked very well for wakeboarding and kneeboarding, but I didn't try to slalom becasue I wouldn't want to drag that long in a cold mountain lake. Next summer I'l...

Jeff & Moe - We got a Mercury 4 stroke 90 HP and did not try to slalom. We got top speed of 23 MPH and it took a while to get there. Did great for wakeboarding & kneeboarding, but I will have to try getting up two skis and dropping one to slalom next summer. I'll let you know how that works ...

Any MacGregor sailors in Florida?

My husband, daughter & I will be in Florida Feb. 4-13 Ft. Myers area, then south to who knows where up to Orlando then Jacksonville. We bought our new 26M last summer and had some "experiences" which led us to believe we would very much benefit from from sailing with someone with exper...

I do use 2 burners at a time. When I had a single burner, I could make it work, but it really was hard to cook pancakes, sausage and eggs and it all be hot to eat it together. Guess I got spoiled using the 2 burner camp stove that uses little bottles of propane - what's the problem with propane?

Suggestions for double burner alcohol stove for new Mac 26?

Had an Origo stove on a previous boat and loved it. Had a pressurized alcohol stove on a previous boat and hated lighting it. We ordered our new 26 without a stove because no one could tell us if a two burner would fit. Now find that Origo's two burner will not fit. Using a Coleman camping stove (pr...

Hey Randy, I certainly don't expect to get the performance of a "ski boat" with my new 26M. But there are times when there's no wind and it would be nice to do something fun. But the waterskiing capability was one of the features that attracted us to the new 26M and I'm am wanting to know ...

Starting to get excited, don't have a delivery date yet, but it's in process. For Richard O'Brien - We usually boat at Ridgway Reservoir, but the marina operator hasn't opened yet this year and the park doesn't know when they will open, and they would let you park in the lot for over 1 day. So we ha...

Actually just $1,000 deposit to order, $30K+ upon delivery (gulp!). I was thinking that I might not be able to get up on a slalom even with 90HP but I bet I could get up on two and drop one. Can you tell me the name of the thread that speaks to modifications to the transom for the higher HP m...

Just ordered our 2005 26M from the Anchorage today. Looks like we are going with the Evinrude E-tec 90. If it pulls me up, great! If it don't - I'll hitch a tow with some of our friends that have ski boats. I like to kneeboard but I could learn how to wakeboard. Thanks again for all the great info y...

Well it appears that I came to the right board to get the information that I need. You guys are great! From what I understand from waternwaves (I'm not the technical type, so please correct me if I misunderstood something) Evinrude etec 90 HP has enough power to pull a slalom skiier, is lighter weig...

Thanks for your reply. I wouldn't expect to ski behind a "sailboat" at 26 MPH. A competition ski boat would be the ticket for that! But at this altitude, even ski boats slow down. Anyone out there that can share their experience in skiing behind a 26M at altitude? Would a 60 HP be enough p...

Waterskiiing a reality?

We just sold our ski boat last year and got an older MacGregor 25. Had lots of fun learning to sail last summer, but winds are not very steady here in the mountains. We are seriously considering getting the new 26M due to the waterskiiing/wakeboarding capability and trailerability. I weigh about 110...
