Re: 2003 Suzuki DF-50 No Spark

Cycle from Neutral to Forward and back for the Neutral-Only start switch?
Obvious, perhaps, but I've killed the engine in-gear, and it would not start until I cycled the throttle in to gear and back to Neutral. Symptom sounded similar (engine would turnover, but not fire).

Re: Blisters!

An Interlux pamphlet I picked-up mentions blister caused by reasons other than osmosis. Specifically, it refers to a "rash" of small pinhead blisters that are hard & dry. It says these are typically caused by air voids. This description matches some of the blister photos that have been...

Re: Anyone with experience with 90 hp on Macgregor

Suzuki has updated their line-up for 2009. Added a new I-4 DF90 that's lighter than the "old" DF70. I've been very happy with my '05 DF70, but would seriously consider the DF70/80/90 for a new boat. Specs match-up well against the Honda 90. Be interesting to see what becomes the recommende...

Great shot of the boat settled in at the marina with its feathered friends. Glad you found a launch spot. The boat ramps are as busy as mid-summer (or busier) with the salmon run in progress. Looks like a perfect weather window this weekend. No doubt the work of another traveling Californian. Wind m...

Hello Gerry, Here's to a great first season with the boat! The Gleason ramp is a somewhat un-friendly (the docks angle away from the ramp, and there can be cross-winds). Would guess Cheryl's advice is a conservative recommendation to avoid stress for a first-time launch. If you do use Gleason, a lon...

Hello Gerry, Congratulations! We went the same route a few years ago (bought an M from BWY, moor on the Columbia during the summer with a few trips to the San Juans). Been a great boat for the river and the SJs, and I am eagerly awaiting the new season. Getting out about once a month if the sun's sh...

Hello Shane, Checked out the Suzuki Engine Interface today and it is displaying data. RPM, Engine Hours, Alternator Voltage, and Fuel management are available for overlay, or display on a custom page. I've got what I wanted, which was to see was gallons-per-hour, RPM, and speed. From what I've read,...

Has anyone connected an EP-20 to a Suzuki DF-70? I got an EP-20 "almost" hooked-up to my LMS-522. Engine data is working, but I haven't found the trim sensor connection. Its a 2-pin connector that branches off from the main connector. All the engine data is available (from the main connect...

Jeff, Steamboat Landing's looks like a nice location. You've got the option of up or down river. Having a boat in a slip for the Summer (and pulling it out for the occasional road trip) is great. The after work sails on the river, after things quiet down, are phenomenal. If you pull the boat out, Ho...

Looks like it will be a good week for PCX sailing once this front blows over. Should be 5-10pm from the West or NorthWest. Perfect for the long upriver runs. You've probably noticed the the I5-to-I205 stretch is the place to be. Races on Tues & Thurs. Things quiet down significantly east of the ...

Thanks for the notice. I'll have to pick-up a copy. In addition to a SJ cruise this summer, I'm considering catching the ferry to Vancouver Island, and trailering up to Barkley Sound. Another possibility is to head North the end of 101, and launch at Lund. Then a quick jaunt to Desolation Sound. If ...

Enjoyed the Portland Boat show this past weekend. There's a nice display of Hunter & Beneteau's in the 27' to 45' range. And a Seaward 25 with the retractable keel, which is an interesting boat. But at 10,000lbs tow weight, and $75K it isn't exactly a Mac. BWY has a nicely rigged M on display, t...

Johnny, Was thinking more the Mississippi than the Rum. The stretch from Champlin to the Coon Rapids dam. I don't recall sailboats or marinas. Perhaps there's a surplus of better sailing on the lakes. :D I've read some interesting trip reports from LOTWs. It sounds great. But the Rum to Mille Lacs w...
