A Great December 16th

Today approached 70 deg, the lake (Wheeler in North Alabama) was smooth, except for the wind ripples from the 7-8 mph wind. Unlike many times on the lake, no wind shifts or loss of wind. Three plus hours of woooonderfullll sailing with wife and friends. Honestly, it just doesn't get better. Did I me...

I have a 5K BTU unit that I store on the afterberth. At night, at the dock, I put it in the companionway. I use two, 4 inch pieces of pcv as legs, with the inside of the AC unit on the bottom of the companionway. My companionway cover is in two pieces--upper and lower. I put the upper over the top o...

Often you get what you pay for

Price disparity can often be difference between someone who knows what his boat is worth and one who doesn't because he never took care of it. I would rather buy a boat from someone who used it, upgraded it, and knows what condition it is in than from someone who doesn't use it, lets it sit around, ...

I use a refer when "camping" at the dock. It is a pretty tall unit, 3.5 cu ft., I think. Cost $100 and works great. When day sailing, it keeps stuff plenty cold. I have the igloo ice cube for use when needed. Of course I have the original cooler macgregor gives you. It stores clothes and c...

Absolutely. I'm not calling Bubba. Eddie, the guy who fixed it was a tryly stand up guy. I can't believe that his shop sent guys out to fix your boat right at the river. It was nice. No dismasting or anything.

$1715 later I am back on the water with a new/used lower unit. That was my problem. I had the boat towed to the launch, walked it on the trailer, hauled it out to the parking lot and awaited Eddie, the wonder mechanic. Eddie took 45 minutes to swap out my lower unit for the used one he had greased, ...

Dimitri, the mechanic who looked at it said that oil pump failure was not that uncommon; that is why he recommends guys mix in their fuel tank. The guy at the Merc place said, "Naw." I will haul later this week and get a postmortum at the dealer.

My engine is/was a 2cyc. 2003 Merc--not bigfoot. I am sorry that I confused when I called it a 400 lb weight. I was over speaking. Anyway, I think that because I use the boat one or two times a week as a break from work, I will keep it. Momma says she appreciates that it relaxes me. I will probably ...

Well, the mechanic took about 3 minutes to tell me I had a siezed piston and a 400 lb. weight for the back on the boat. Most folks around here look the other way when you ask about rebuilding. I could be in for a new engine, and I haven't got the $$$. So, I guess my options are: 1) Sell the boat and...

"It don't sound good."

That's what the mechanic I am meeting tomorrow at my boat said. Wed. eve I was leaving the marina when my merc 50 siezed up. Oil showed okay, no warning alarms. It was doing about 4000 rpm, then went down a bit and then locked up. I know nothing about engines. Any ideas?

My $99 unit from best buy sits in the companionway and gives 5000 BTUs of remote controlled air. Weighs less than 40 lbs, sits stowed on the after bunk and is awesome.

When I bought my boat, owner had it on the trailer, launched and started the engine. I checked the rigging, but the boom was still in the cardboard!! The sails were all still in the bags, never out!! The mast had been up, but never rigged with sails. This was an 01X that I got last May. I didn't min...
