Was reading the posts regarding the rudder being in the water during backing up and maneuvering. I have a 1980 Mac 25, in which the rudder sticks out parellel to the waterline in the full up position(its completely immersed) Anyways I heard some dialogue regarding the IDA rudders and apparently Macg...

I just googled the company and took a look at some of the reviews on these plugs. Found this explanation
in response to this review.

Anyways not sure if it would live up to the hype, but seemed to be a pretty well articulated explanation.

My old beater F-150 1983 vintage, got a 4.9 straight six(big diff from V-6, should be it's own category), 4 speed manual, and 4x4 with the manual hubs. Won't go real fast up steep hills, but put it in 3rd gear(4 total) and it'll go 45 at 3000 RPM's and keep going like that til I run out of gas. And ...

I am not sure how relevent my input would be as my ship is a 1980 Mac 25 which allowed me to get in the game without as much upfront investment. Anyways I bought the "Rosie" back in april, and after finally buying an old truck to tow it; I had it in the water in early June(thereabouts). Si...

Hey all, Sorry its been so long since I replied to this. Anyways to make a long story short, I got the proper bearing for the swivel and, here are the pics of the bearing job. And Chip it seems that it was a banded thrust bearing, I guess at the time I knew a little less about what I'm talking about...

Last Saturday I tried out the autopilot that came with the boat(Ray STS2000+), and I was very impressed with the way that it operated and and held course in the Potomac with all of the wakes pushing us off course. The unit that I was installed with the factory bracket on both the hull and the tiller...

Sorry, that was the upper swivel of the roller furling sytem, and when I said banded thrust bearing, I meant a thrust bearing that is sealed. The bearing itself is steel, but not stainless as it is corroded and seized. The housing is stainless. I'll try and post some pics tonight after I get off wor...

Parts(Bearings and such)

Just had a quick question, I have been working on getting my boat up and one item that has been hard to locate is a replacement bearing for my 20+ year old Schaefer upper swivel. This looks to be a banded thrust bearing, of ID 0.42"(fits over a 3/8" shaft) OD 1.47" (housing is 1.5&quo...

Finally got the boat on the water

Well after getting everything up to snuff, I finally took my Mac 25 out for its maiden voyage. And I have to say, so far I am pretty impressed. We took it out on Pohick Bay on the Potomac, and just got familiar with how it handles under power and really light wind sailing(wind under 5mph). Hopefully...

I just got my boat and at the moment it is on the trailer, but I don't think that the boat is anyhwere near, big enough to manage the weight aloft. In otherwords, MacGregor advertised that when the mast was pulled down to the waterline it takes 160 lbs to keep it there(from the X video I think), so ...

Well, I got my boat over to the house almost a week ago and still trying to get it prepped up. Anyways it looks like it will shape up pretty well, after I buy the gallon of rubbing compound :? Anyways it looks like I will have to replace some of the deck hardware; specifically the forestay turnbuckl...

I guess you are never too old, but I'm 27 and just starting out. One of the better things to start with is a Coast Guard Aux course. I took the Boating Skills and Seamanship course, it's mostly for powerboaters but it covers all of the rules of the road. And read as much as you can, hang out on boar...

Another interesting feature of this type of high-speed craft is its ability to "jump" an obstacle in its path or even fly at high altitudes for a limited amount of time. The larger the craft the higher it can fly and "jump", making it possible for a 200ft Ekranoplan Yacht to cro...

Baldbaby, Thanks for the reply, I finally brought the boat home on Saturday 03/26 and it still looks in pretty good shape, though I don't believe the PO had used it for about a year. At any rate I need to do about a half-dozen gelcoat repairs, all of them either on the hull above the waterline or on...
