Re: Heating a Mac

I've got a Wallas model 800 Mini Cooker w/model 220 blower lid. This unit burns kerosene and is positively vented to the outside of the Mac. It's a great hotplate cook top and the blower lid flips down over the hotplate to heat the Saloon when you're not cooking. I think I read in the owners manual ...

Re: Prop Size for a 2009 Honda 50HP-EFI on my 26X.

Hello et all, Thanks for the input! This prop sizing is thoroughly confusing. When I purchased this motor I told the dealer, Monterey Bay Marine (MBM) my boat with a 50 HP Nissan TLDI had a 11.6"X11"X3 aluminum prop and it pushed the boat to 17 knots with the ballast empty (it think). I ne...

Prop Size for a 2009 Honda 50HP-EFI on my 26X.

I just had the new motor installed on my '02 Mac 26X. Monterey Bay Marine in Santa Cruz, CA installed the motor with a 11 3/4" X 11" Stainless Steel prop. I sea trialed the boat/motor combo and I could only attain 5,000 to 5,200 RPM with the ballast full. The variance in RPM I attributed t...

Actually the closest conversion is: 1 nautical mile =1 and 1/7th statue miles! Therefore 7 nautical miles=8 statue miles.

Rich, congradulations on your decision to step up to a bigger boat! I'm confused as to where your boat is? You're talking about repairs and maintenance in Sausalito but the Pearson is currently in Santa Cruz? The Gate (as in Golden) is 55 nautical miles north of Santa Cruz, why would you not make re...

Winds are a steady 15 to 25 knots in the afternoons on Monterey Bay (CA) in the summer, don't need a genoa on this tender boat!

The Fenderstep seems to want to be two things doing one thing at a time. If you use it for a fender then it's below the dock surface. If you use it for a step then it's useless as a fender. Wouldn't a one or two step gunwale mount hook ladder be more functional?

With all this talk of propane settling in the bilge, how do you tell it's there? Seems like it would be difficult to detect with your nose!

I'm going to get it here but in reality the blue hull is probably faster than the white hulls because the blue hull owners are constantly maintaining that blue hull to keep up with the oxidation that we white hull owners don't see.:D Now everybody knows that a buffed and freshly waxed (blue) hull is...

Chris, I'm in the process of installing the SportPilot+. I've got my Mac in the fiberglass shop at the moment as the dealer-BWY in Seattle installed the Tachometer below the steering wheel right where the thrust block has to mount so I wanted to have them patch the hole and be sure the area was prop...

Chris I would be interested in how the wireless remote works for you. I spoke to the tech people at Raymarine today and they stated that the wireless remote will work on the Sportpilots but they do not recommend using them. You might call the tech group and listen to their reasons why before you buy.

Somewhere on one of the posts on this site someone recommended the Mr. Clean "Magic Eraser" as the best spot remover. I tried one of the erasers(kind of like a soft sponge that dissapears as you use it). I am impressed. It removes oil, tar, wine spills, fish blood, leaf stains, scuff marks...

I checked with Raymarine when their new wireless remote came out for their autopilots. The tech person told me that the wireless remote will not work on the Sport Pilot or Pilot plus. The best wired remote for the SportPilot is the Raymarine ST600R. It's $360.00 at West Marine a bit pricey but you c...

Could I ask a question? If the boat is damaged beyond repair but the motor looks to be brand new, wouldn't the ins. co. just pay for the replacement boat and the owner could/would, keep/use the existing motor for the replacement boat. Or maybey the owner wants to move up to a 70 horse motor?
