Re: Almost... Almost Mine!! 2 Weeks!
Since they engage automatically, it's hard to know if/when they engage. Quite often whet I rig and raise the mast in the lot just before backing down the ramp, I will unplug my trailer wiring. It never fails to catch me by surprise when the trailer brakes lock-up while backing toward the ramp and I...

Re: 87 or 93 octane?
93 octane in comparison to lower grade octanes burn slower. 123 octane burns slower than 98 260 octane burns slower than 123 so forth. The higher the octane the longer the burn. Some just say a hotter burn, but that isn't really so. Because it burns longer tends to make that assumption true. The ide...

Re: would like to hear from anyone with 25 hp
There are very few places in the world w ith 10 knot currents.... I can only think of three ... in Florida on extreme occasions of tidal conditions. But yes they exist. One of the three is Sebastian Inlet on the Atlantic side. Here is a navigational note on copied and pasted from Active Captain; Se...

Re: would like to hear from anyone with 25 hp
Hello, This is a first post by a wannabe sailor. Tom, I read your post with interest. I will be in the market for a boat this winter. The question of what motor is very important to me. So if a 2 stroke is the best power ratio, do you have a recommendation of what make or model motor? And doesn't t...

Re: would like to hear from anyone with 25 hp
Seems whenever there is a discussion over horsepower it generally centers over speed. HP vs SPEED. Let's discuss this topic in terms of HP vs POWER. Now, let's imagine this ... You've had a lovely day out sailing in open seas. Weather is great wind is right, but now it's getting dark and you have to...

And what has Macgregor yachts brought to you?
My Mac25 brought to me a sense of escape and accomplishment. A sense of what I have not have for a long long time. A love of nature. I fell out of love for a while and then I got it all together again and rediscovered the MacM. We boldly went where I feared going and with it I learned what a lot of ...

Re: Any Of The older 26 Models Have..........
If you dont mind me asking, whats with the head having to be near the door anyway? The head by the door makes for a taller head, and it opens up the bow of the cabin for more light and more room. What's with the head being close to the doorway (companionway?). It's called 'Preferences'. Well to me ...

Re: Any Of The older 26 Models Have..........
Different strokes for different folks I always say. In this case, I have read reviews (pro and con). I have come to the conclusion that it all boils down to a persons physical size. I am a medium/large person and am old to the point that I don't bend easily. So the X has a head that has good headroo...

I live in a small little world where I sit and watch the internet go by :) That is why I love this site. To find out what others who share sailing as their passion with others who understand.Early on (when I bought my first sailboat), a Mac25, I embarked on signing up for a Bimini Trip with the Conc...

And would (company) go to the trouble to create a (product) that (has a feature ) just to sell more(something) at a higher price point? replace 'price point' with 'profit margin' and you have capitalism in a nutshell...a horrible system, but a better alternative has yet to be found... ...

Re: How Many Of Us Are One boat Owners?
I had both a MAC25 and a MAC26M between the years of 07 to just a year ago. And at one point I leased two marina slips for them both. You see, for three years prior I had cut my teeth on the MAC25. She taught me to sail and how to handle the winds and the helm. I had a blast and didn't want to let h...
