Looks like someone forgot to fill the ballast.. and the mainsail full of water prevented it righting itself...

Re: Slip VS Trailer Vs Mooring
2b) I am cheap and always keep my boat in a slip, ready to go. I know alot of you guys will hate me for this, but I pay approx. $190 USD per season for my finger pier slip, which includes electricity and water at the slip. It's subsidized by the city of Espoo where I live in Finland. And the fuel do...

Photos of this summer's sailing adventure
I had quite the adventure this summer, taking three weeks to sail along the coast of Finland up past Russia, through Russian waters, through the Saimaa Canal and into and around the Saimaa lake region of southeast Finland, and then back home. I sailed to the Saimaa by myself, then my wife and kids j...

Re: What's the CE classification for a MacGregor 26M sailboat?
If I read this right...... Motor = 51 Hp 8 people max 1958 pounds load (people - baggage - motor) for Inshore and Sheltered water operations... *********************** does that mean that you aren't "supposed" to go on to saltwater? have a larger enginer?? --just curious how the rating wo...

Re: What's the CE classification for a MacGregor 26M sailboat?
From the CE Certification done in late 2008, for my 2001 26X: (Image shown above) 750 kg? That's pretty good ... Did you have a local surveyor do the CE certification? (Just curious.) Had to fly the inspector in from Germany. Also curious about the "extras" José mentions in his post .... ...

Re: Macgregor cockpit cushions yes or no?
I like that idea of wrapping the original cushions foam in trashbags. Does it make them sound like a big diaper when you move around on them though? No noticable sound different from stock, though they tend to be a bit like an air mattress and take longer to settle out the first time someone sits o...

Re: Poor Handeling in my X, any ideas?
I put two AGM batteries under the Vberth and 30' of chain in the chain locker of my X, and it helped noticably. But it still is sensitive to wind and waves, as any light boat will be.

Re: Macgregor cockpit cushions yes or no?
I have the stock factory cushions on my X and wasn't satisfied with them, as they absorbed water and also weren't quite thick enough. So I wrapped the original foam in trashbags and added some camping mat closed foam (total investment about $8) and they are vastly improved. They don't absorb water (...

Re: Need tips - Sailing a Venture 2-22 Downwind
As I almost always single hand, I tend to look for techniques that don't involve having to mess about on the foredeck too much... so a whisker pole is more work I want to personally mess with by myself, even with 'Otto' steering. In lieu of a whisker pole on the genoa, you can get by fine by sailing...

Re: Lost my rudder in the Baltic! Idasailor folks to the rescue!
Patrick, Sorry to hear about your rudders. Sounds like you handled it well. Glad to hear you are getting good service from Idasailor. I was in your neck of the woods recently. Next time, give me a holler (same for anyone else crazy enough to come this far north ;-) I took a 12-Day Baltic Cruise ear...

Lost my rudder in the Baltic! Idasailor folks to the rescue!
So I'm 2 days into a 3 week trip along the southeast cost of Finland, up through Russian waters past Viipuri, through the Saimaa canal to the Saimaa lake district in eastern Finland, with a bit of sailing around the Saimaa lakes and then back home the same way. I'm on a broad reach, nearly a run, wi...

Re: LandingLoop for Docking
the dock line holding tool from shurhold is at west marine for 12 bucks. it Velcros straps onto your boat hook, anywhere along the shaft, close for a small loop, and further away for a bigger one. the way you use it is by making a loop through a spliced dock line, you hold one end of the open loop ...
