Re: Venture 25 with new Main and Genoa
Hi, Great looking boat. I have a question: I want to add up to a 150% Genoa to my Mac25. Where did you place your Genoa Tracks? Did you have to add backer blocks? Did you have to sleeve your side cables (standing rigging) that run to the mast? Has anyone gone to a Masthead Genoa/Jib instead of the ...

Re: Venture 25 wanting to add boom vang.
Well, they were out of town at a show the week I was calling. I got my vang last week, looks great! I will install it sometime this week, I was sailing all weekend and didn't feel like doing any work. I'll let ya know how it works for me.

Re: Venture 25 wanting to add boom vang.
I just order the BWY boomvang kit for about $69. Looks pretty simple to install. Now that I have seen yours I have been wanting to order one myself. How the heck do you get anyone on the phone at BWY? I have tried all last week. I have emailed 3 times and called 4 different days. I get no reply at ...

Re: Boom cam is rotted out.
The line is called an outhaul. The cleat that it attaches to keeps it from loosening after it is pulled through the cheekblock. Purpose is to pull the foot of the sail tight. There's no need to replace the cleat exactly. Any cleat, however mounted, can do the job. Thanks!! I knew what its function ...

Re: Venture 25 with new Main and Genoa
What are the dimensions of the mainsail, and what did it cost? My stock Venture mainsail is so large the boom sits too low. I've taken to sailing with a reefed main for comfort (and safety). Thanks. I had the same problem with the sails that came with the boat when I bought it last year. I bought t...

Boom cam is rotted out.
My mainsail has a small rope tied to it at the end of the boom. That rope goes through a Curved Base Cheek Block then to a weird looking cam cleat of sorts. I have attached a picture of the cam cleat, I am trying to identify it because it is rotted out and needs to be replaced... http://i235.photobu...

Re: Venture 25 wanting to add boom vang.
Lol, Chris- Sadly no. In fact, those pix are the subject of one of my other posts. Trying to get at the keel bolt because a PO tried to seal it... I'll let you know how it goes once I figure out the best way to grind off the glass. Well mine leaks when the keel is down, I have added about one ton o...

Re: Venture 25 with new Main and Genoa
I should also add with regard to your statement about having installed the hardware on deck to accommodate the genoa that I hope you first drilled bigger holes, epoxied them over and then drilled the correct sized oles for your through-bolts. Using silicon, RTV, etc. to "seal" the deck ha...

Re: Venture 25 with new Main and Genoa
That is a beautiful boat you got there, especially that rig! Sails look freakin' great! :D I am jealous. 8) What kind of rudder you got there? It does not look stock at all. Nice bimini too. Thanks!! Its the rudder that came with the boat. Its all wood. I am assuming its the stock rudder.

Re: Venture 25 wanting to add boom vang.
Okay, so I got the kit put on my V222. Pretty much a piece of cake. As johnnyonspot said, my boom has a pre-drilled hole midway down the boom, but I followed the kit instructions and drilled the hole for the boom bail 30" back from the foward end. The bails are the same size, so it just fits o...

Re: Electronics Advice
Thanks for everyone's advice. Luckily I am on a lake/river so the need for a GPS has been almost 0. But I would like to be able to see my speed and map where we sailed to for the day. I like the tip on the bigger the screen the better, using a tiller and fumbling with a hand held will be a real pain...

Electronics Advice
This is my first season of sailing. My Venture 25 only has a depth finder and a VHF radio at this point, of course I use it on a lake/river so not much else is needed. BUT now I am wanting to add some goodies and was wanting to get some feedback from other sailors. I would like to be able to see wha...

Re: Venture 25 with new Main and Genoa
Well you know how us southerners like our football and how sensitive we are about our teams. I am originally from Florida and grew up being a big NFL fan but living in Tennessee is all about NCAA, so I adopted the VOLS. Its quite fun to give everyone else a hard time in the NCAA. Also, since I am on...

Re: Winches
Thanks for everyone's help, I just installed my new genoa. I installed 2 winches and the track a few months ago. Everything works great!
