Re: Aliases

I've pretty much used a variation of "vatalon" or "vafalcon" since email has come into existence so vatalon is what I use on a regular basis. I've taken it from my military background. I'm retired from the Army and I live in Virginia. So "VA" comes from Virginia. The &q...

Re: Impeller on a Honda 50

Tim, I had a similar problem. Took "All The Way" out a couple weeks ago and all the motor did was putter and quit. Every time I tried to advance the throttle it would not power up. This was the first time I had the boat out in 2 years. I did flush the motor last year but did not do a good ...

It's been some time since I've viewed or posted but I thought this was an interesting thread! MacGregor ads in Sail Magazine are not some new phenomenon. In fact when I became interested in sailing, it was the postage size ad for the MacGregor 26x in the classified section that convinced me that I c...

Ray, Sounds like a good time! My only experience with the Delaware, was transporting a converted Tug from the Philadelphia Navy Yard via Cape May, up to New Brunswick way back in 1972 in my Sea Explorer days. Allot of commercial traffic and thanks to a big storm, my first experience with sea sicknes...

Look up Para Gear web site. It's been several years since I skydived but I would think they have a site. Look for "self adhesive rip stop". It comes in about a 2 inch width and would be real easy to apply to the sail

Thanks for all of the responses guys. Got around to pulling the wheel today. The bearings were fine and grease still looked brand new since I just changed and packed them in December and only had the trailer on the road twice that month and then this past monday (about 100 miles round trip each time...

Chip, If you purchased through West Marine, you might want to write a review to warn the rest of the boating community what to look out for. As you may have seen in my post, I'm thinking about converting to disk brakes and W/M looked like the easy but not necesarily cheapest way to go. It looks like...

Chip, It was the wheel. Deep down inside I know I have to take it apart but hate having to do it now that it's getting hot and I would rather spend my time sailing. I figure if I have to do it, I might just as well change the brakes to disks. As a side note: I did purchase the 22 inch wheel you sent...

Smoke from the tire?

Took the boat out yesterday. On the way out I stop after a couple miles to check the trailer. I check the tires and hubs to see if they are warm. On the way out no problem. On the trip home, when I pulled in at home the left tire had smoke and smelled like burning rubber. Tire appears to be fine. Wh...

I've voted for day-sailing only. Not because I do not want to cruise, but I single hand and do not have the time to cruise at this time (retired military and now self-employed). I tend to like my toys new and would have probably purchased an M if they had been available in 2001. As is, I'm perfectly...

Sailnet has a sale on safety gear thru 5 Apr. I just ordered the Mustang manual model w/harness. I'm not to kean on an auto-inflate model with the chance of accidental inflation.

My 2001 has the fuse panel inside the companionway and I added an additional one right next to it. If I had it to do over again, I would locate the new panel on the side of the galley (just over the battery compartment). This is where I installed my "1-2-Both" battery switch and it would b...

Welcome aboard! Good to see another Mac owner in Virginia. Where do you plan putting in at? I'm in Prince George, just south of Richmond. May move to the Lorton area in the future.

Hope this crazy weather clears so you can take it out soon.
