I get Seafoam at the local AutoZone. Use it as a stabilizer more than a cleaner but ever since using it religiously, haven't had a problem with the carbs on any of my motors (boat, lawnmower, generator, etc.). The directions say you can pour it directly into the fuel lines, but I've never tried that.

While I’m not sure if the X is more stable than the M, I can tell you that I was toying with the idea of trading in my X in for a new model. I ordered the M video and really was taken aback on how many times the boat bounced back and forth from side to side after the halyard pullover test. I dusted ...

I too had water in the bilge when I first bought my X (Im the third owner), but only after sailing. It turns out the previous owner installed a bilge pump under the cooler and used a T fitting to attach it to the head sink drain. When heeled over on the starboard side, water would make its way throu...

I bet the email went something like this: Dear Sir, I am the eBay seller of Item number XXXXXXXXX. You expressed interest in my item by bidding, however the auction has ended with another eBay member as the high bidder. Because the winner of my auction didn't respond to my emails after winning the a...

The email you got is a scam...probably from someone in Nigeria. $5K for something that bid all the way up to $13K? Common sense will tell you that something is fishy about that. I usually get one or two of those same scam emails when I loose a bid on Ebay.

Can't say I've noticed less power boats on the water, but talking to a few of the people at my Marina here in So. Cal. (Alamitos Bay), many of the owners are keeping their gas hogs in the slip and enjoying life there. Really a shame as many of them really enjoy Catalina for the weekend, but at $200 ...

Bottom paint options in California

After working all weekend on a barrier coat I for my 26x, I marched on down to the local West Marine to purchase some bottom paint. After some research, I decided on an ablative paint, in particular Micron CSC or Pettit Ultima SR as I'll have the boat in the slip for only 6 months out of the year. T...

Mast up storage in LA

I'm looking to move my boat from my slip in Long Beach, Ca to a mast up storage place. I called a few storage places in the greater Los Angeles area, but couldn't find any that accommodate mast up storage. Do any of you store your Mac mast up here in LA? If so, do you have the name of place you keep...

Thanks everyone for the tips. Don – I’m going to do the bottom paint myself. I called the local yard to get a quote and nearly keeled over when they told me the price. I think I’m going to do the prudent thing and launch the boat this weekend and measure the water line out with full ballast. I was h...

Finding the Water Line

Just picked up a 1996 26x and need to find the water line for the barrier coat and paint. It looks like there's a barley visible molded in line that runs along the boat several inches below the black stripe. Do any of you happen to know if this is the true water line for the 26x? Thanks…
