Jack: You can find a picture of the rig on the MacGregor factory website. As you will see, the sprit attaches to the deck and extends some distance out over the bow. It appears to be removeable and made out of the same material as the mast.

As posted before, a national Mac competition would seem like a natural considering there must be close to 6,000 X and M's out there by now. Obviously there would be a lot of specifics to work out. This shouldn't be that difficult if there is a group of volunteers willing to pitch in and get the job ...

Gary: We have found that we get the best low speed powering performance with rudders and centerboard down. By low I mean around 4 to 5 knots. Above that we raise everything. I have only powered the boat once with rudders and cb up in the 4 to 5 range. It was a nightmare. There was little to no contr...

I also heard that MacGregor will have two new sail options available soon. One is a self-tending jib and the other is pretty wild. A detachable bow sprit and a much larger spinnaker for down wind runs. Supposedly both of these items can also be ordered and installed for folks that already have a M.

Hi Guys....Got my 18" wheel from go2marine and headed down to the marina over the weekend to install. Was prepared for a battle but no one showed up to fight. :D All it took was a socket wrench, rubber mallet and a little tugging and the job was done. Boy what a difference a couple of inches ma...

Hi Don. The Hunter 240 and 260 are both still built in fiberglass. Hunter bought out JY a couple of years ago. The largest boat that is currently built with this material is the new 210 daysailer. I have seen it advertised in Sail magazine and it looks like a pretty good deal. $14,000.00 delivered i...

Rob: Great idea for a poll. Should be interesting to see the final results. Put me down for a 28 footer. My slip won't fit anything bigger. :(

Heath - A Suggestion

Heath: Was wondering how you would feel about setting up an area on the board for us to buy, sell or give away small ticket items. I am sure many of us have parts, accesories, etc. that someone might want or need. $34.95 for an ad to sell a $50.00 item dosen't make sense. You could set a cap on the ...

Dave/Mike:

Thanks for the info. Just put my order in. It should be much better than the current wheel. Has always felt like I was driving a go-cart instead of sailing.

Dave/Mike:

Went over to the website and they have a ton of 18" wheels for sale in that price range. Do you recall the make and model of the one you purchased? Also, how difficult was the installation?

Do you know the name of the manufacturer/factory?

Thanks

Phil, thanks for the information. It will be real interesting to see what she looks like. $65,000 AUD converts to about $47,500 USD. Add an engine and shipping costs to the states and you are getting pretty pricey assuming this boat is equipped and constructed like the Mac. Still, I would love to se...

Vinyl Rubrail

I have a couple of small dings/openings in the black vinyl rubrail that I would like to clean-up. Anyone aware of a product out there for this kind of repair? Thanks!
