Re: A lesson in going back to the "Basics"

That is what I forgot to do last year at launch! It sure makes it hard to maneuver in the close confines of the launch area.

Re: Need Honda 50 hp advice

Rich, I would imagine like all hydraulic systems that over time the power tilt will experience wear that may allow it to leak down. How long had your X been sitting? If there is some contamination in the hydraulic fluid it can cause scoring of the components and overtime the seals can become worn. I...

A lesson in going back to the "Basics"

3 things happened or almost happened when we launched "Pugnacious" last Sunday for the 5 mile trip to our slip. One thing that I have figured out is when you trailer once a year your routine can get a little rusty. Plus, it is easy to get in a hurry the first time out for the season. Spent...

Re: So why is the mac 26 x or m not a good sailer

We are self learning how to sail on our :macm: . Even had a sailor on board who is certified in one of the ASA courses. He and his wife had a fun time. We were their guests on a 35' Odin for a weekend Hunter gathering and on the way back just like they had on the way down river there was no wind. We...

Re: Found the shallow spot - Columbia River OR

Gerry,

Where were you? Just wanting to know what spot to avoid. We were out saturday evening just east of the 205. We are still relatively new but the wind out of the west made for some awesome sailing between Govt Island and the Wa shore.

Re: Disconnecting motor while sailing

We have had the BWY quick disconnect since our boat was new. I would not be without it. When we are sailing and need power just drop the motor and the rudders will steer fine. I forgot to hook up the steering once going into the Marina and it steered fine but was sluggish. I docked just fine and fou...

Re: Hunters Version of the Mac26

Went to a The Oregon Hunter rendevous last weekend as a guest of some friends who are members with a 35' Oday(go figure) The dealer said the one they have on order will be fairly loaded, 75hp, real head etc.... around 62,000. Pretty sure that had in mast furling also. I think the competition will be...

A towing width of 102"(8'6") is legal in all 50 US states w/o permit.

It is allowable for safety equipment like mirrors to extend beyond this width.

I believe montana is the only exception to this and I think they allow 9'

Good luck and hope you get a good rig. I have developed hearing problems since buying the Mac. It is a terrible affliction that seems to come and go. BEWARE!!! It happens when I get into a sailboat conversation with a person who is dead set against moving any faster than 6kts. My condition must be d...

I would concur with nemo about marine park. Have tried to "pilot several times" in cross wind plus current. Made it when winds were under 10. But if it is pretty rough, like on 12/1/07 taking out for the season, just let it take you to the dock and walk her on the trailer. The admiral was ...
